"beautiful boy... darling boy... " ex-Beatle John Lennon's lyrics spring to mind when you set eyes of this stunning portrait.
One in a series of three, this is my favourite. I think the tone, colours, composition and framing of this shot are just sublime...
For vision I have given 3.5 as I do not see anything extraordinarily visionary about a portrait of a handsome boy... there are many in DeviantArt. However, there is something alluring and mesmerising. God only knows this boy has been blessed with fine bone structure and soulful eyes and a face that would make Keats and Shakespeare wax lyrical for many a day!
For originality, 3 out of 5 - as it is not original by any stretch of the imagination. As stated before, there are umpteen portraits of beautiful boys. Although the adornment of a fine woollen scarf does not add any flair to originality, it does however provide a wondeful palette for tonal quality. The photographer has harnassed this and used a palette of winter blue tones to emphasise the cold weather. This juxtaposition of cold with the warmth in the models eyes suggests intimacy and seduces the viewer.
For technique I have awarded 5 out of 5 - I cannot fault this portrait. There are no distracting background subjects to compete with the model for the viewers full undivided attention. The tones are perfect for this autumnal/hibernal portrait. The chosen focus on the subjects warm bedroom eyes is perfect. His eyes disarm you from everywhere in the room... they follow you, undress you and beckon you to come closer... so I suggest view this FULL VIEW and be prepared to have your breath taken...
For impact, I have awarded 5 out of 5. This is one of the most delicious male portraits I have seen... Do I believe in love at first sight?

This has made me want to go and view the rest of the photographers gallery and it has many, many stunning images - including a delightful series of underwater shots.
