Description
In the capitol rotunda, there are 2 domes- one glass and one metal. The world between the two is one of brick, light and shadow.Taken in Topeka, Kansas. Canon F1 New, 24mm 1.4L. Aperture unrecorded.

Look at this site. See the tower there? It's the capitol dome. When you go inside and look up, you'll see a glass dome at the top of the main area. This is actually in between the outside dome (the green bit) and the inside dome (the aforementioned glass.). It's a fascinating place! You can actually go to the very top and go outside. 292 steps. It's reeeeeally high up. *nods*
More to the point: It's the State Capitol Building in Topeka, Kansas- right smack dab in the center of the USA! It's where all of the state officials (Governor, State Senators, Lt Governor, etc) have their offices and where the state government meet to do business. It's a beautiful place- there are paintings and marble details. I really enjoyed my time there.
I have no idea if you eat meat, but if you should just happen to find yourself in Topeka, Kansas (just a hop, skip and a jump from Jordan... ) you should find Bobo's Drive in after you climb the capitol dome. Great burgers...

Really nice shot, especially excellent composition. The rail really nicely leads your eyes to the rest of the image. Also mood is quite nice here.

love the contrast and gradation of values.
to make it even better, you took the picture with film, developed it either yourself or in a lab, and scanned the negative. i bet it was a lot of work.
please bare with my lack of knowledge in color films; i'm guessing that realia is a type of slide film?

I don't have the skill or the equipment to process my own film, so it gets taken to the lab! This is actually color negative film. Realia is one of Fuji's better color negative films, actually. Velvia and Sensia are their slide films.
When I was looking at the shot, I felt that it would do better in black and white, so I did just that.
Film really isn't that much work, really- it's just that people aren't used to it anymore.
