I felt that I needed to show a little bit more of their past relationship than just have the characters hint/talk about it in the previous chapters... Was this move of mine necessary though? Well it happened so I guess "it is what it is" now.

I'll be honest, this comic is super cheesy and cliche in a lot of ways. However, that doesn't make it any less enjoyable. Cheese is not inherently bad, and I look forward to every new page.
