Description        After a few weeks of getting used to not having a right eye anymore, Mekeke realized his tail was missing one day. He rushed to the mirror to look at himself and found himself looking far more mature. He was finally old enough to be considered an adult. He was still too young to really be an adult, but he'd reached an important milestone. His master would probably not celebrate it, but Mekeke was still excited to tell him.
He entered the workroom with a little bit of a swing in his step. He noticed the Master was hunched over his work, concentrating on a particularly fiddly piece of a marionette. Mekeke took a spool of string from the table and starting winding bits of it around his fingers.
While he was attaching the strings to a puppet, he cleared his throat and said, "Master? I lost my tail."
"And why does this matter?"
Mekeke thought that the Master would understand the significance of losing your tail in Keronian society. "Well, it means that I've finally become older. It's puberty."
"So why should this matter?"
Mekeke looked up at his Master, who hadn't bothered looking at him. "I'll be an adult soon. Then I can start my own business and leave this workshop. Thought that would be important."
The Master did something far worse than hit Mekeke. He laughed. "You? You were thinking of making your own workshop, of leaving?"
Mekeke frowned. "Yes."
"As if you could ever amount to anything in this world," the Master said, finally facing his apprentice. "Nobody wanted you then and nobody wants you now. Do you really think you could do anything? I've taught you a trade, but you're so abysmal at it that I've almost lost hope in you. You are worthless. Don't go deluding yourself into thinking you have a right to anything more than what fate has dealt you."
Mekeke stood there in silence for a moment. His fingers twitched. Something was rising in him. It was something that had been born over the whole time he'd lived with Master and it had grown bigger and bigger with each beating and each harsh word. Now it broke free.
"I'm abysmal?" Mekeke said softly. "Abysmal? I've slaved over these puppets since I came here. I made them dance and walk and move in every way imaginable and you call me abysmal?"
The Master nodded. "I hope you're not thinking of talking back to me."
"I'm doing much more than talking back to you," Mekeke said, his voice low. He flicked his hand and soon the string tied around his fingers wrapped around the Master's arm. Mekeke's finger twitched violently. The Master's arm jerked with it.
The Master look horrified. Mekeke was feeling shocked, but not overly surprised. He sent more of the strings at the Master, who raised a hand to strike him. The strings caught his arm before the swing. The Master's eyes widened with fear.
"Do you know what happened to my eye?" Mekeke demanded. "You never bothered to ask or even help when you hit me. Did you think I just wore this eye patch for fun?"
The Master was sweating now. He didn't seem as frightening anymore now that he was scared. Mekeke's fingers twitched and threw his master against the wall. Careful not to make the Master move again, Mekeke picked up a small knife from the table. He brandished it wildly.
"Every day I've spent here, you've given me more and more reasons to murder you," Mekeke said. "But I'm not like you, am I?" He started to laugh. "I'm excellent at this!" he shouted. "I mean, can you do this? Can you control someone's very actions with the movement of a hand?" He jerked his hands again, throwing his master onto the ground. "I would say that I'm the better puppeteer than you."
Mekeke twitched his fingers again and the Master was released. He slumped to the ground, panting and looking like he was about to have a heart attack.
"Unlike you, I have mercy." Mekeke put the knife away in the folds of his shirt, along with extra string. "And now I have the string. From here on out, I cut myself free." With a final, terrified and relieved laugh, Mekeke left the workroom. He ran from the place, feeling free.
After he'd gotten some distance away from that horrible place, he calmed down and realized what he'd done. He had the power to control people through puppet strings. He curled up into a ball and began to rock. He'd had his revenge. It made him feel worse though. Something in him had snapped. He rocked faster, trying to calm his racing heartbeat.
A shadow passed over him. There was a policeman standing above him. "Could you come with me please?"

Poor guy!! He gets his revenged but he feels worse now. I'm surprised these chapters are getting less reviews. They're awesome! And it's hard to get my satisfaction. I mean you're good enough to make me write conjunctions in the beginning of my sentence! And that's not proper. Hey! I did it again!
