Description Hanana wiped sweat away from her brow. It was heating up down in the machine room. She'd finally realized how to get free of the ice, which caused her to laugh at how stupid she'd been.  She undid the laces on her boots that weren't covered in ice and slipped her feet out. She was free!
Standing there in her stockings, she approached the next problem. How to stop everyone? She could create a distraction. But what would be big enough? She was down there in the machine room. If she broke something, there would definitely be chaos. The only problem was that she didn't know what to break and she didn't want the ship to crash.
She placed her hands on the floor, as if she could draw something from that.
Think of what you're good at, a lighter, happier voice said in her mind.
Plants, baking, hiding and climbing things. How would plants help her in a situation like this? There wasn't a place to grow anything and what would growing something do?
She began to search for a wrench or something to smash the ice around her boots with. She didn't find a wrench, but she did find a lot of dirt. Working on some mysterious instinct, she began to brush the dirt into a pile. She knew it wasn't a proper place to grow something, but she had vague hope of something fantastic happening.
Hanana quickly rummaged in her pockets, in the folds of her skirts and in her sleeves for a stray seed. When she finally found one, she didn't even bother to identify the plant. She pushed the dirt over it and held her hands around it. She squeezed her eyes shut and hoped.
Something moved underneath her fingers. She jumped, but kept her hands there. Green shoots burst through the spaces between her fingers. She drew her hands away from the dirt slowly and laughed. The plant kept growing and growing, the vines wriggling their way across the floor. They wrapped around pipes, squeezing them shut and roped through gears, stopping them.  There was a terrifying shudder and the noise stopped.
"Ha!" Hanana shouted, pumping a fist. "I knew it! I'm not useless!"
She ran back to her boots and wrenched them free from the melting ice. She put them back on and raced out of the machine room before anyone could get down there to find out what was wrong.
The door at the end of the hallway led to a stairway. She climbed it and emerged in a tiny room probably just used to conceal the servant's entry. After going through that room, she found a long, wide hallway with red carpeting and large fern pots. These were the rooms tired guests used, Hanana guessed, observing the many doors.
Someone came around the far corner at the end of the hallway. From his clothes, he appeared to be some sort of waiter. He looked surprised, then angry. "Who are you? What are you doing here?" He started to march towards her.
Hanana held up a hand and almost instantly the ferns in the pots grew larger and wrapped around the boy's legs like hands. He fell and tried to free himself, but the ferns restrained his arms.
"I'm sorry," Hanana said, running past him. "But there's something really important I have to do."
She continued racing towards the higher levels, but there were a lot of people walking around there. Hanana didn't want to do what she did to that poor boy to anyone else. She stayed out of sight, hiding behind the ferns.
There had to be some other way to get upstairs. A maid started to walk towards her, no doubt about to discover Hanana's hiding spot. Hanana threw open the door to one of the rooms and hid inside.
The room wasn't being used by anyone, but Hanana noticed a glass door and a balcony. She walked out onto the balcony and looked at the city beneath her. It glowed. If she wasn't in a dangerous position at the moment, she would've taken the time to fully appreciate it.
What she was really looking for was some kind of ladder. She'd seen a man using it to fix something on the outside of the ship while it had been grounded. It was just to the side of the balcony. To reach it, she would have to stand on the railing. She looked down again and felt dizzy. She wasn't afraid of heights. She was afraid of falling and hitting the ground.
Hanana steeled herself and climbed onto the railing. The railing creaked ominously. Hanana's heart was pounding harder than she thought it could. If she wobbled a little, she could fall. With her hands clutching the flat surface of the ship, she stretched one arm out and grabbed one of the ladder rungs.
"Yukiki, I love you," she whispered. "Putata and Mekeke, thank you for taking me in. You've been the best friends I've ever had. Nuii and Gyroro, you were the little brother and sister I've never had. Dokuku, Giruru, even though you might look scary I liked you anyway. Kagege, you were very kind, even if I couldn't see your face. Robobo, I only just met you but you were still very interesting. And Samama, you're braver and stronger than I am and you've helped me so much." With that out of the way, she reached with her other hand and gripped the next rung.
She didn't fall to her death, but she screamed. Her scream was carried away by the wind, but at least she wasn't. She waited for her hands to stop shaking and she started the climb. It was far colder up in the air than on the ground. She wished she had her coat with her, but she'd expected to be in the ship the entire time.
It occurred to her to be angry with Yukiki, but she couldn't. He'd only meant to keep her from getting in trouble and she couldn't really get that angry with anyone. She loved him and she would make him apologize but for now she had to concentrate on climbing up the side of the ship.
A window above her head smashed open, followed by flames. Hanana quickened her climbing so that she was next to the window in time for her to throw herself through it. There were some minor cuts on her hands, but other than that she was uninjured.
The room contained Samama and an angry looking man with a scar over one eye. He had a gun pointed at Samama, who was gritting her teeth in what looked like frustration. Both Samama and the man looked surprised to see Hanana suddenly land in the room.
"Stop," she said. "Before you kill each other."
Samama ignored the man, who was looking between them and trying to form a coherent sentence, and instead grabbed Hanana's hands. "What are you doing? Didn't you go with the others?"
"I'll talk about it later. We have to stop the attack."
"Why? Does someone know?"
Hanana shook her head. "I'm not going to let them kill someone."
"Excuse me," the man said. "I'm confused. Could you explain?"
"There's no time to," Hanana said. "Just…talk this out or something. I have to go."
Samama and the man looked at each other.
"You look a lot like my fiancée," the man said, just to get the ball rolling.
"Coincidence I guess," Samama said with a shrug.
Seeing that they weren't going to kill each other anymore, Hanana left the room (which appeared to be some kind of study) and headed for the ballroom itself.
