These are so stunning, Iβve been dreaming up all sorts of ways to tie in bits and pieces of my favorite childrenβs stories into one of these dreamworlds and hang it in my reading corner in my classroom. You know...a glass slipper on the steps to the castle door, a golden brick road leading off, a frog with a crown, the list goes on...thank you for sharing your work, itβs captured my imagination. Iβve dug around trying to find how to make one of these beauties but coming up dry. Iβm too far away for classes, but if youβd be willing to share the instructions, especially the inner bits, Iβd post you pictures of my dreamworld when completed. Thank you for getting me to finally sign up on Deviantart and start showing people my little world! I canβt wait to post for you.

Hi there,
awh, thanks - it's such a good feeling to inspire someone - I hope you make something awesome. It really is not hard to make these lamps, so I expect you will. I'm glad there's no tutorial to be found on the internet, but I have absolutely no problem sharing how it's done. I'll send you a note with a basic set of instructions.

Thank you so much, but right now I do not take commissions. My art teacher does though, but I do think she charges a little more for her lamps. You should check her site: www.droomwerelden.nl for more information.

this is stunning, i would need this for my little dauther as well - do you take commissions of them?

Thank you so much, but at the moment I do not take commissions. Right now between work and looking after my 2 lovely girls I just haven't enough time. My art teacher does take commissions though (she makes these for a living) and she teaches workshops where you can learn how to make one yourself (I saw you're from Germany - if it's not too far you could do a weekend workshop). Check her website: www.droomwerelden.nl for more information and inspiration.

your whole gallery is fantastic! This is made of paper clay? It doesn't burn? I cant even imagine how you made this...it is brilliant.

bgerr In reply to adivawoman [2013-05-26 19:00:29 +0000 UTC]
Thank you so much for your nice comment! This is indeed made of paperclay, but the whole thing is constructed on a styrofoam ball and toilet paper rolls. The light is a LED light, which doesn't get hot. Otherwise it would burn and the the styrofoam would melt. I saw in your gallery you can handle your clay (great work!), you could make this yourself quite easily.

After I posted this I bought some paper clay.
Thank you for sharing how you made it.
I Love working with it. I was so tired of using sculpty.
I work a lot and it is great that I can make a figure and put it away for awhile till I can get back to it.
I have been using food coloring and alcohol ink to stain it and I love the organic look it gives &Β it takes paint like a dream.
I can make my little people look like they have been carved out of stone. Way cool.
I have also been using it on small glass bottles to make funny faces, like the primitive folk art jugs but sweeter looking.
Some day I will actually take / post photos of my new little people and robots so you can see what you started because you were kind enough to take the time to reply.
You really opened a creative door for me.
Have a good one.
