I am an auntie! My sister has given birth to a lovely baby boy, for whom she asked me to make the birth announcement card. We decided to keep the card itself very simple and just make a beautiful illustration for the front of the card, and put the details on the back of the card.
I saw some great illustrations in polymer clay recently and decided on clay as my medium for this. I made all the objects in loose bits and baked them separately and then glued them on a plexiglass plate. I painted the blue of the sky and the green hills on a piece of paper and glued that to the back of the plate.
I'm so happy that all is well and i't was an honour and a pleasure to have made this

I'm really curious about how long you think this took to finish. I've been thinking about doing clay illustrations and something like this is EXACTLY what I had in mind. It's really blowing me away and I'm feeling inspired by your piece... however I can't help but shake the feeling that it would probably take me half the time to just do a digital painting... I'll at least have to try!Β

Oh how cool is that! I'm not really sure how long this took me, I worked on it on and of for 3 months. If I try and translate it to working hours, I'd estimate about 35 hours.Β
