Description
In this filler episode of DW, we're putting the guerrilla Taliban of the Afghanistan against the communist Viet Cong of northern Vietnam. It is time to decide, who is deadliest!

We will be testing four of the Taliban's weapons: the RPG-7 rocket launcher, the PMN mine, the AK-47 assault rifle and the bayonet (of the assault rifle in question). We will also be testing five of the Viet Cong's weapons: the Tokarev TT-33 pistol, the MAT-49 submachine gun, the F-1 grenade and POMZ-2 land mine, and the punji stakes.

In the opening for the short range weapons, the VC Tokarev TT-33 pistol faces off against the Taliban's bayonet. The TT-33 managed to eliminate all of its targets (including a gel bust) in 24 seconds with just 8 shots. The bayonet was able to rip a reinforced cloth punching bag in half with a series of repeating strikes, and when used on a gel torso it punctured its heart and lung, but the edge still went to the TT-33 for its greater killing potential.

For the special weapons, the Taliban RPG-7 rocket launcher was compared to the VC's punji stakes. The RPG-7 was used to blow-up a shack with several VC stand-in dummies in it from a distance of 920 meters. In contrast, the punji stakes traps were also effective, killing victims as components of a pitfall and a spike ball traps, but they could only kill one person at a time, while the rocket launcher killed several, and at a far greater distance, for which it gets an edge.

For explosive weapons the VC F-1 grenade and POMZ-2 land mine is tested against the Tali-ban's PMN mine. The F-1 grenade decimated a pig carcass even after the POMZ-2 land mine was disarmed and removed. The PMN mine, on the other hand, did dismember limbs when exploded, but it killed only two out of designated five targets. The edge was given to the F-1 gre-nade/POMZ-2 land mine combo for its extreme, anti-handling nature.

Finally, for the long range weapons, the Taliban's AK-47 assault rifle confronts the VC's MAT-49 submachine gun. Both weapons decimated a row of liquid-filled glass balls, especially the ones with a larger diameter, and so both were declared equal.

The battle simulation.

A team of five VC guerrillas is coming up a mountainside, having caught up in a storm. As they do, they see a nice, dry, dark cave and decide to rest there for a bit. As they stumble in, they stare face to face with a team of five Taliban fighters, who aren't happy.

The startled commandos begin to fire, with one of the Taliban gunned down by a MAT-49, and one of the VC nailed with a shot from an AK-47. The rest of the VC flee from the cave, pursued by the Taliban team.

VC – 4, Taliban – 4

As the VC flee from the Taliban, one of them isn't fast enough, and is stabbed through the back with a Taliban fighter's bayonet. Seeing this, another Viet Cong guerrilla whirls around and fires his TT-33 pistol at that Taliban fighter, before the latter can fire his assault rifle, killing the man dead.

VC - 3, Taliban – 3

The other Taliban fighters begin to fire at the VC pistol shooter, causing him to flee after the others. Sadly, he's too slow, and ends up stepping onto a PMN mine, which blows him clear off the mountain.

VC – 2, Taliban – 3

The Taliban fighters, seeing this, can't help but laugh. This allows one of the remaining Viet Cong guerrillas to pause, pull out an F-1 grenade and to throw it at them. The explosion demol-ishes two of the Taliban fighters, although the third one manages to jump away from the gre-nade's blast, landing right before the grenade-throwing Viet Cong, piercing him through the chest with the bayonet.

VC – 1, Taliban – 1

The last two fighters of the two groups stare at each other, before the Viet Cong opens fire with his MAT-49. The Taliban fighter drops to avoid the gunfire and the Viet Cong accidently shots apart a rope that was holding a spiked punji stake ball his group had set up earlier. The ball swings down, missing the still-prone Taliban guerrilla and hits the Viet Cong right in the chest, face and stomach, killing him straight away.
