The big panels of wood are pine siding I purchased at Home Depot. The fan fabric is muslin painted with gesso paint for stiffness.
I basically followed this tutorial but took into account I wanted to make the fan bigger. [link]

That's what I've been up to instead of drawing. Lol.
But hey, this is my second try at this costume. I made one for Halloween in 2004 and it came out poopy. 
Besides, I made her second outfit too and I love that one even more than this one!

I bought a base fan, and then took the paper part off to make a make fan instead. I think it was about 5 hours of work. But I'm very happy with the result!
