This is a physical object, not a render! Fractal made in Mandelbulb3D -> voxel transformed into mesh in Fiji -> optimized in Meshlab -> repaired in Netfabb -> 3D printed at Shapeways in white polyamide -> painted with 3 coats of Humbrol enamel. Get your own copy! => [link]

Thanks for the favs!

well, both hexaspheres are really lovely, they look like a mixture between limestone formations ([link] , [link] ) and crochet lace ([link] ).

then again, the fractal flakes - both the red and the hyper - are super interesting to look at because they're in fact organic-looking cubes, which is intriguing because people rarely think of cubes as something organic.

and speaking of cubes, the Mystic HyperMenger is a lovely play between a tangible cube and a whole lot of intangible "invisible" spheres that are interlacing inside of the cube.

but those are simpler-looking. even if they're elegant, if given the choice, i'd rather have something more challenging. so ultimately, i am in love with the Cathedral [link] and the Coral [link] .
They're both more complex and interesting in my opinion, and i'm calling the Bulb a Coral, because i used to have the skeleton of one at home and it looked so much like your fractal sculpture (before you applied the paint)! And... am i mistaken or does it partially use a formula that is used to simulate the structure of broccoli?

And the little cathedral... i'm totally enchanted by it, it's still got that limestone feel i was talking about earlier but then it's an urban element, and a complex one at that. Organic-looking church - a praise to nature.

so i guess if i were to choose, it would be the Cathedral. if i could choose two, i'd also take the Coral.

sorry for the long comment but i really like this idea of printing fractals! the past weekend i was at the Week of Design at Milan, and there were 3d-printed items... but nothing i hadn't seen before. and this, this is marvelous and new to me.

Thanks so much Jenny for taking the time to write this comprehensive feedback. The red flake doesn't exist anymore in this shape, I have finished to paint it, adding some varnish mixed with black paint to give a "used" finish, and then adding gold paint on all egdes, now it looks like some sort of Chinese abstract dragon I should take a photo one of these days! The cathedral is a good choice too, and as to the one you call "coral", I have also painted it ([link] ) and I will probably order one more because I have other color schemes in mind. If you can't afford one, which I can understand, please support by sharing the links! Thanks
