I do not know (since this picture and your comment are old), but some countries use a period instead of a comma to separate sets of 3, so "5.000" to him may be "5,000" to you.
(Also, as far as I know, things can go the other way; I think I read a decimal with a comma used as a decimal point, like "4,53".)
