Actually my old high school chemistry teacher totally looked like him. He was even similar in his teaching style, was way overqualified for a high school teacher, and had a bad illness...
Except that it was parkinsons, so he would never have been able to be a meth cook or drug kingpin, as over time he got more and more slow and unsteady, and couldn't even perform the experiments himself anymore.
Also, teaching was the love of his life, and he consciously chose it over a higher paying job. When he couldn't teach anymore due to his illness he was heartbroken by it. I feel so sorry for that guy...

He said it was a character, so I'd say it was intentional. Generally, if you can paint as well as he did here, you usually have a firm grasp of proportion and perspective.Β
