Done for the Madman Art Competition "Battle of the Bands" from September 2011. You had to illustrate Anime characters in a band.****
Music is in the air and some of our most beloved heroes have teamed up to make the ultimate “The Beatles” tribute band. Titling themselves “The Beaters” (fitting as they’re competent at “beating” people), Son Goku, Monkey D Luffy, Naruto Uzumaki and Ichigo Kurosaki have “come together” to create themselves a musical album. Too bad Chi Chi doesn’t seem too impressed by their exploits...

It's sort of surprising how well some of these anime guys clean up. Though now that I've spent far longer staring at Goku than seems appropriate. I see that he still has some of his long hair...Because I somehow missed that for the first five minutes...
Can't imagine why Chi Chi wouldn't like the fact that they've got a band. She should be pleased that Goku's not off fighting everything in sight! ...At the moment anyway.
And the band name is of course, very fitting, though I wouldn't have expected any less from you, Bijoux. Especially after you came up with all of those names for that Kingdom Hearts tournament.
I like how the lineart is so fine, particularly on the instruments. It seems like I really need to focus on the guitars/drums to register that it's there.

Yeah, I think I'd be able to understand all of their rabid fangirls a little better if those anime guys looked like this for real. I figured Goku wouldn't want to cut all his hair up, considering it wouldn't grow back 
Hmmm, you raise a good point. Chi Chi should be happy for that, at least. Perhaps she's worried that the other three boys will be a bad influence on her husband (which actually makes me think 'why on earth is Goku in a band with three teenagers?'). Or maybe the four of them end each "jamming session" with a "healthy" brawl?

Ah, I'm glad you like the lineart! Thank you. It was a real pain putting down the base colours though - hence why I've since learned my lesson and now put a thicker outline around the people in my art.

And now that I look back on this picture, I've concluded that Ichigo must be the best drummer in the universe. Just look at that colossal left hand of his! Or...is his right hand small?

You know, I'd forgotten that Goku's hair wouldn't have grown back until you brought that up. I never really understood that, I mean, if his hair didn't grow at all, how come he always had so much? He should've been able to "grow into" his hair...
Clearly, Goku is in a band with teenagers because he has so much in common with them! What with the fighting and the narrow scope of attention and sharing the idea that they're the greatest and the world revolves around them... I think the better question is why this didn't happen sooner. ;D I wouldn't be surprised if they did end each session with a "healthy" brawl, it'd be a good way to blow off all that steam they build up. Because clearly playing music is an activity that requires blowing off excess energy afterwards...
I've noticed that it really can be a bit of a pain if the lineart's too fine. I've also noticed that using the paintbrush to make it can make colouring base colours quite a pain. What method do you use for putting down the line art anyway?
Clearly Ichigo's hands are the result of something to do with his bankai training, one of them got all the muscle built up and the other was neglected.
I think if you were to average his hands, they'd work out to be just the right size.

When Goku said he'd found a new outlet, she was expecting something more "purposeful". Eww, the grinding of her teeth. That would sound horrible!

Goku will never get his traditional spiky hair back.
But all in all, looks really great.
