Description This is the result of my first step into the world of 'toons*! At first it was a scary place, but I'm actually starting to like it...
*Quite a departure from my usual style!

This is part of a collaboration with a good friend of mine. He's a huge fan of the Puppetmaster movies and wanted a t-shirt featuring his favourite characters. If you've never heard of them, the first movie was made in '89 - the sequels carried on into the '90s - and they feature some superb practical effect puppets, including some awesome stop-motion.

Created in Illustrator CS for some smooth line action...

I thought the woman's name was MisLeech (like "mistique" or something) or Ms. Leech. It was really Leech Woman?

Ooooh! She's mainly call "Leech Woman" but she's called "Ms. Leech" in the commercials, back when they sold her as an action figure on TV!

BikerScout In reply to KhoasBunny [2012-08-28 12:14:02 +0000 UTC]

Glad you like it!

Decapitron is missing because when I made this (a few years ago!), there were no pictures of him to work from. I might update it at some point with all the other new puppets from PM X.

That's so cool. We're having a movie day next weekend - trying to watch all the PM movies up to and including Axis of Evil. It's gonna be a loooooong day.

The shots of the new puppets in the next film are awesome. Weremacht in particular!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BikerScout In reply to heartless-2 [2010-12-26 21:16:56 +0000 UTC]

There are actually three Totem characters and they featured in the 4th movie Puppetmaster 4: The Demon, as servants of the demon Sutekh. I don't think they had specific kill styles but they were pretty evil!

I didn't realise how much of a cult following the movies had. Glad you like 'em.

AppleBetty In reply to BikerScout [2010-03-04 02:18:25 +0000 UTC]

I'm surprised they HAD such a cult following. They weren't necessarily good movies. And yet they spawned ten flicks AND an action figure line (which I used to collect). I had a life-sized replica of Blade. Head was molded from the movie puppet's head and everything. It rocked.

say, why does Mephisto has a japanese sign on his forehead?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BikerScout In reply to hewhowalksdeath [2008-07-28 16:59:47 +0000 UTC]

The symbol on his forehead is the Japanese symbol for 'Death' and it appeared on the Japanese version of the action figure.

I thought it was pretty cool so I left it in. It doesn't appear in any of the movies, as far as I know...

Wolfy-Snackrib [2008-02-02 08:29:03 +0000 UTC]

Could someone tell me the deal with the "Retro" puppet master dolls? I haven't seen Puppet Master 7, only 1, 4, 5 and 6. Only the first one out of those are good, but the dolls kick ass. So how come the dolls are all different in Retro? Is it some kind of prequel? Did egyptians make Cyclops and Mephisto or something? And Andre Toulon was a copy cat?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BikerScout In reply to Wolfy-Snackrib [2008-02-02 11:21:47 +0000 UTC]

Retro Puppetmaster is the equivalent of the Puppetmaster origin story. Here's what IMDb has to say:

"It's 1892 and Sutekh is hopping mad. It seems a 3,000 year old Egyptian sorcerer has stolen one of the God's secrets of life - that of instilling the souls of the dying into inanimate things.

Sutekh raises three mummified former high priests, led by the villainous "First Servant", and charges them with recovering both the Sorceror and his secret. There is no lack of victims for the 3 high-faluting, stylish villains as they pursue their prey to 19th century Paris, and the very young puppeteer, Andre Toulon.

Toulon runs a puppet theatre in the heart of Paris, and meets the sorcerer (the mysterious Afzel) when he is found by the lovely Swiss Ambassador's daughter Ilsa, after being nearly killed. It is there and then that we find the seed of things to come, and the origin of the Puppetmaster series of tales."

Argh, my first comment deleted...

This was one of my favorite set of movies growing up. My dad brought the first one home and I was hooked on horror films from then on out.

I love when I refer to Pinhead and people don't automatically think of Hellraiser.

My favorite puppet was Jester.

Yay another PM fan! Pinhead is my favourite - I actually have one of the resin statues of him & Six-Shooter on my desk.

Jester is one of my favourites in this piece. He was a tough one to do but I think he came out ok.
