Blood covers the ground,
I try to understand but I can't hear a sound,
Our souls shattered like the hopes of many,
We once started as lovers now left enemies,
Making it better just won't ever happen,
I'm left covered in my own blood and my own tears,
Living life realizing I could love and I could fear,
You showed me how I could feel,
How I could find someone and that love was real,
Why'd I have to be such a mess up?
A forgotten poet on the verge of giving up,
You slammed the door when you left,
Something I just can't ever forget,
I fell to my knees begging you to stay,
I've never felt so much hurt until this day,
Then I got a call,
I wasn't prepared for this at all,
Now you're in a hospital bed clinging onto life,
I guess you couldn't see road through your tears,
Your visions blocked by reflections like a million mirrors,
I'm by your side,
I know you don't want me here,
But please understand,
If you make it through this you'll never have to see me again,
I'll leave you alone for the rest of our time on this earth,
Squeezing your hand for dear life feeling you slip away,
My heart rate explodes while yours' begins to slow,
This is the biggest pain I will ever know,
Watching the love of my life with no warning just go,
The heart monitor stops as your hand goes cold,
Tears start to all as I'm pulled away,
You gave up on life just how I gave up on you,
If only I wasn't such an idiot if only I knew,
Now you're gone forever,
All I have now are the memories and cigarettes,
Smoking to push myself closer to being with you,
I'm too much of a coward to commit suicide,
Just like I was too much of a coward to keep you.
