Because apparently when I said "shading" the artist heard "big black splotches."
As soon as I get some spare money I'm just going to have the whole thing filled in.

Okay, I'll tell the story.
A friend who had moved away was coming back to visit, and part of his visit included going back to his regular tattoo artist to get something new done, and a few of us were tagging along to get a few small things as well.
An important part of this story is that the tattoo artist was going to retire or move away, I'm not sure which, so she was closing the shop in a few days.
Well she had something come up earlier in the day, so she wasn't able to do all of our tattoos that day. So my friend Neil and I, after looking at his work, agreed to go under the needle of the secondary artist at the shop.
He was clearly capable of proper shading, he did the shading on Neil's tattoo beautifully.
Best I can figure, he thought "Oh, this stupid girl isn't worth it, I'll just do a shitty job and she'll never notice the difference." And of course I'm so non-confrontational that I didn't say anything about it when we were at the shop, I guess I hoped that it would grow on me. It didn't.

AND, of course, since the shop closed and he didn't put his last name on his card, I can't find him and make him fix it.

*Le sigh* Oh well.
