It's a Geoffroy's Cat as the title says.
They do look a lot like Ocelots, I thought it was one for a while. It's a small wildl cat.

I think it was Geoffroy someone who discovered the species.

Thank you!
I used watercolor pencils on watercolor paper. And then I went over it with a thin wet brush, you can probably see that effect of the nose.

I'm glad you like it This scanned version is a little too light, thogh..

To tell you the truth I thought it was an ocelot for a while, because of the white spots on the ears.
And then I read that it was a Geoffroy's Cat.. (I actually misread it first and thought it was Geoffrey's..)
I guess they are rather rare.
Thanks for the comment and I'm glad you like the details

Binnus In reply to Anytram [2007-02-11 16:01:00 +0000 UTC]

I think I spent about a weekend on it. A long weekend, so Friday, Saturday, Sunday.. a couple of hours on each days..

Ooh, beautiful. My first impression was that it was a photo. Then I saw the in-progress pic and had to take a closer look. It looks incredibly realistic - what materials did you use? Did you work from reference? Wow. *shakes head* I'm feeling inadequate now.

Thank you!

I used a picture of a Geoffrey's Cat which is on the inside front cover of the Cat book of Eyewitness series. The reference photo is about 5x10 cms big *small*.
I'm really happy you like it.

I forgot to add in the description that it's a little too pale, because of the scanning. If you compare it with the picture of it's unfinished head you can see that it's quite darker.
I did over a weekend *in case anyone's interested*.
