After rounding the bend Cross and Dearth saw the aftermath of what had all the signs of a raider ambush: bulet casings and blood surrounding the poor crumpled form of a pegasus pony, who seemed to be wearing some odd indistinguishable uniform, all items of worth she was carrying looted and the robbers gone.

"Are we too late?" asked Cross, turning her head and narrowing her eyes looking for any signs of trouble.

Dearth sat the unconscious pegasus up and bandaged her wounded body, cleaning each individual wound with an herbal lotion. "No, we aren't too late, thank Celestia. She'll be mighty sore when she awakes, but she'll pull through, she'll pull through"

I thought it better to introduce some more OCs with a more dynamic picture and some dialogue.
anyway, From left to right you have: Cross Bones, Dearth, and White Tail.

Cross Bones: she's a somewhat arrogant, but good mannered earth pony friend of Dearth. Cross has a rough exterior, but she's just about as warm and fuzzy on the inside as a pillow. Cross likes Dearth, I mean REALLY likes Dearth, but she's terribly awkward socially when it comes to her emotions. Usually when she tries, she makes an awkward, grotesque joke about death which leaves Dearth confused and a little concerned. In her past, she was part of a raider group that lived outside of the ruins of ponyville, but after getting into an argument with the head honcho she was kicked out and beaten horribly to the point of death. she remained like that until Dearth found her, and nursed her back to health. Cross was terrified, angry and confused and tried to kill Dearth numerous times who would always just patiently wait for her feelings to pass. Eventually she opened up to Dearth, and fascinated by his kindness, began to ask him about why he helps everyone. Dearth began teaching her, as a friend, how to make herbal ointments and tonics that would cure poisoning and stop infections. After she was healed, she asked if she could stay with him, to which he said yes, and together they travel the wastes, helping those in need, including White Tail depicted above.

Dearth: He's a kind-hearted, traveling do-gooder. He carries no weapons-just herbs and pots and pans (he's a 5 star wasteland chef^^) and he's never so much said as one unkind thing to anyone who's crossed his path. He's gentle, kind and extremely knowledgeable about survival but he's completely oblivious to anything dealing with romance (hence why he can't even tell Cross likes him). He's learned a lot about local fauna, and acts as a healer for anypony he meets in the wastes standing in need-raider. During one such travel, he encountered the half-dead raider Cross Bones by the wayside. Dearth isn't stupid so he generally steers clear of the raiders, but compassion is in his nature, and so he stopped to help. When Cross Bones awoke, she was still suffering shock from the extent of her injuries and being a raider, she naturally tried to kill him. Again, Dearth isn't stupid, so he made sure she was restrained. At first, their time together was rough. Cross kept trying to kill him, muttering all sorts of profanities while Dearth would patiently wait before asking her when she was ready for him to dress her wounds. As the days slowly passed, Cross became less hostile (loosing the need for restraints) and began to open up, asking about Dearth's healing abilities as well as his reasons for helping ponies, even raiders. Dearth told her he believed in compassion and that it was something that ought to be shared with everyone-it's "what good folks do". From there, their relationship continued, Dearth continued talking, laughing and even teaching Cross some of the tricks he knew. By the time she was fully healed, and Dearth ready to part paths and continue his journey, Cross asked him if she could tag alone. without hesitation, he said yes, and now Cross acts as his apprentice of sorts, traveling the wastes to make the days a little brighter.
