Description My half of my art trade with

The ponification of the hero from the Ip Man movies.

I drew this initially without reference (i normally am looking at a similar body position from the show when I sketch).

I am not 100% happy with this yet. I think I will come back to the in the near future, to let some time clear the art buffer of my attachment to the process I took. That way I can fix it properly

Words cannot describe how awesome this picture is! He actually kind of looks like Donnie Yen as well.

Tell me, have you thought about making a pony version of Jin Shan Zhao?

This is not my normal brand of pony art. I don't normally ponify characters for the sake of ponifying them.

That said, I do like doing art trades because it causes me to expand my artistic horizons.

With a name like IP Man, he shouldn't be punching a log. He should be programming a website!

What else could IP mean, other than the Internet Protocol? Oh, wait, Intellectual Property.

Actually, it's spoken... Ip. It's Chinese for something.

So, he's Something Man! Superman's autistic cousin!

Wait, I just remembered I saw a trailer for that movie, it was all over the Escapist, so I saw it every time I saw Yahtzee yell a bunch of swears!

I quickly lost interest when I noticed the main character appeared to be in a fight with some guy, and was smiling, like he didn't care.

I think in the scene you are referring to, Ip Man was sparring with a challenger for fun, and winning too; he smiled because of this, not necessarily because he was arrogant.

I found the movie enjoyable overall. Although some events in the movie never actually occurred in Ip Man's life, i.e., fighting 10 men simultaneously, the story was okay. Of course, you're going to find some Chinese nationalism in the movie, but it's not too bad.

At least you don't have to worry about seeing silly stuff like acupuncture or chi in this kung fu film. However, there's a fight scene where one of Ip Man's challengers does some physics-defying attacks; it would be a shame to let something small like this ruin a movie for you, though.

I would recommend watching it, especially if you like martial arts movies.

Yeah, but here's the weird thing...no one talks about the plot. What's it about?

Ip Man is a Wing Chun master who lives in Foshan, China, a center for southern Chinese martial arts. The Second Sino-Japanese War begins and Foshan is occupied by Imperial Japan. Then some stuff happens (which I'm not going to spoil for you), and he ends up challenging the Japanese general to a duel.

Not very historically accurate, but it's entertaining.

Oh, go ahead, spoil. I'm not going to watch it.

And then he turns into a pony and beats up all the trees.

The end.

Looks pretty good so far. If you wanna come back to it, you can, but right now it looks just fine to me.

The post and the pony seem too different... I think I need to soft shade him somehow...

Maybe. Experiment with some shading to see if it looks better to you.
