"Envy was an oddball at the school, which was saying something. Given the local inhabitants.

When the boy first arrived people stared on in a morbid certain form of fascination. Slightly effeminate with his long hair, and androgynous voice.

It didn't take long before people started taking sides;
One side being "What a fag.." the second side being "How brave for that young man to be who he truely is in public! How grand for someone to take this sort of stand!"
The folks from the second side crowded around the green haired boy. Acting as though he was some new, gay, enlightend prophet.
They laughed off his off handed, or not so offhanded, comments and insults. Why he's just being clever! Why he's just making a laugh, no harm done. He can't possibly mean it, honestly.

The first side, honestly didn't give a crap about the green haired oddling. There were few that honestly cared that much about him, for they were certain he was about as gay as a box of birds. If he had been a naturally good looking man who seemed to honestly be enjoying the company of their friends and girlfriends that would be when the name calling and beatings would honestly begin.
But as time progressed thoughts changed, they[the second group] assumed Envy would become more comfortable, calm down. Become nicer, somehow. Those 'offhanded' comments would be aimed at their enemies and not still throw like emotional darts with little care or remorse.

The foot pressed to his face, the face attached to which the foot belonged to was twisted into a cruel grin.
Edward was quite certain, he was quite possibly the only human being that knew that 'Envy' was NOT; misunderstood, a loner, an idol, a visionary.
As his pencil snapped in his own hand, Edwards eyes narrowed.
No.
Envy, with all his eccentricities, was just an ass.
Through and Through.

And if that green haired sad excuse of a palm tree called him 'short' ONE MORE TIME, someone was going to HAVE to teach him the error of his ways.

Though knowing his luck, Edward would end up in jail for a 'hate crime'
Granted that it would be partially true. He did in fact hate Envy. Though he didn't believe beating the smirk off that face could be described as a crime. "
