i made a closed species based on mermaids and gems called mer-mahis!! kass-the-kitten is also the co-owner for this bc she mostly helped me with everything so ya!!

Introduction
Mer-Mahis are an aquatic alien species who live deep in the oceans of planet ██████. They’re one of the oldest native species living in the planet and have advanced ancient technology which helps keep their species alive. Mer-Mahis live under a monarchy ruled by their Queen, Nerida, for the last 200 years. Their kingdom is located at the base of a large underwater volcano which as been dormant for 2 millineas. Mer-Mahis are primarily sweetwater based however they are capable of adapting to different types of water after a couple of years.
Mer-Mahis are an open universe species and can exist anywhere you see fit.How Do I Obtain a Mer-Mahi?

Extended Lore/Trivia
Their kingdom is a very large underwater city, sitting at the base of a dormant underwater volcano. It is said by land-dwellers that it's bigger than the island on top of it.
Modern Mer-Mahi culture is heavily influenced by their ancient mythology and it's stories are passed down by elders and entertainers.
From the very beginning, it is said to believe that a goddess was the first queen of the kingdom but then her sister's family became the first royal family.
It is said to believe that the ultimate goddess Vanora's spirit and powers live in the volcano, overseeing the whole kingdom.
There are subspecies of Mer-Mahi's but more about them will be revealed in the future.
Mer-Mahis are omnivores but eat mostly shrimp and small fishes.
The average life span for a normal Mer-Mahi is up to 200-475 years. Mer-Mahis with royal blood tend to live longer than 450-850 years, in very very rare cases, royal blood Mer-Mahis can be immortal.
