Description Im never really satisfied with anything i do, most of my work i cant stand to look at 2 days after i did it. For some reason lately some of my older pics of my dolls have been driving me up the wall so ive started to redo a few of them.

Heres my second attempt to make another pic with the Dante doll i made. Im not sure if i like this better than the first 2 but at leat its something new i suppose

The arch in the background is a doll scaled setpiece about 5 feet tall made of foamboard, the stuff in the far distance (sky buildings) is CG.

My original Doll sculpt is in Chavant clay, from that i pull silicone molds and cast in a custom resin mix, i then drill my parts hollow and string with elastic (my dolls are completely poseable) i sand down the seams then paint on the makeups. The eyes are 17mm handmade masterpiece silicone eyes, his clothes are by Dreux Priore, His guns were carved from wood then a silicone mold was pulled from them and then duplicates were cast in resin.

all you dollmakers are incomprehensible to me. although i work models with my hands in a workshop just like you, it is still completely different. doll crafting is a weird thing. i'm guessing it needs a lot of love and passion and patience. that's probably why it looks so beautiful.

This is just amazing. These are professional grade models, and you make them YOURSELF. You could make a mint this way. I think you know that.

Thanks

My friend Dreux made the clothes and they are even cooler in person, the pockets on his pants actually work , theres even a tiny working zipper on the font. People who can make clothes (especially tiny ones) really amaze me.

Familiar feeling... I'm a drawer, and don't like my own pictures, just hopes that others will. But, if you accept my words: Those pictures are really cool!!!( so as this. ) You hear me?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BishonenHouse In reply to Kirassvaeri [2006-04-08 18:04:57 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!

I can relate, I usually will only like a piece for a short time, once i start finding flaws with it then it begins to go downhill, but i take notes and try to fix the flaws with my next piece..... that ill usually only like for 3 or 4 days untill i find diffrent flaws then the cycle repeats lol

I do have a couple of pieces that i still really like, but for the most part i want to redo most stuff

Looks like all artists thinks the same about their own work. LOL. I showed some of your pics to my sis yesterday, and she wanted to buy one of your dolls. She was totally fascinated.

BTW my friend Mindy sent me pictures of the face-ups you did on her MSDs and they were BADASS! You did a great job They were so cute

BishonenHouse In reply to hooka-pie [2006-04-08 18:01:22 +0000 UTC]

Thanks,

Thats awesome! Mindy is great and it was fun doing the facups on her dolls, up untill then i had only painted my own dolls so doing faceups on girl dolls was a fun change

hooka-pie In reply to BishonenHouse [2006-04-09 20:51:39 +0000 UTC]

Well you are really really good at them (and good at making dolls too)! I am so jealous of her now lol. I have an MSD too and last year she had a faceup done by a girl in the UK.

BishonenHouse In reply to hooka-pie [2006-04-11 17:08:05 +0000 UTC]

I love doing faceups.

Its one of my favorite parts of the whole doll making process, the sanding to remove the seams i think is my least fave step.

Ive never really done faceups for other peoples dolls before heres, but it was sooo fun im going to start doing more

thanks again!

hooka-pie In reply to BishonenHouse [2006-04-20 03:09:08 +0000 UTC]

I'm really good at painting faces and all that but every time I have ever tried to do a face up on a doll I really make a mess of things lol I hate the sanding too... that dust gets everwhere hehe. You really should open up shop to do face ups for others. I bet you could make a pretty penny on it. I paid a girl in the uk a TON of money to face up my doll hehe

You are crazy...I love everything I have seen on your page. I wish to aspire to your level of greatness. But as artists we must be hard on ourselves I understand.

Its true,

Its true, All of the artists i admire usually feel about the same when it comes to their work. I guess its what pushes us all to make our work better with each piece

Foamboard? Holy crap! I've used that stuff for props, but nothing like that. Oh wait, this pic is about the doll, isn't it? hehe.

I do think this looks better than the other pic of him you had up...and I must say, though I'm not a fan of Dante, this doll is just hott!!
