Description Well, I'm getting inactive again time to do something against it.
So this is another shot from 2014s trip through northern France. It's a close-up showing the amazing rose window in the northern transept of Saint Denis. It was the first gothic church with the dimensions of a cathedral I visited after seeing Notre Dame of Paris for the very first time in 2011. It's absolutely breathtaking, I'm going to share some more pictures of it, especially the amazing interior, in the next days. It is awe-inspiring monumental and detailed. Even though I was bored of it from the seminars at university and didn't expect much of seeing it, I fell in love with Saint Denis immediately.

Some art historical verbiage:
Saint Denis a medieval basilika in the town of the same name that is, nowadays, reached by the city boundaries of northern Paris. It's popular for being the burial church of French kings since the early Middle Ages. Art history values it as an incunabulum of gothic architecture for being the first french church showing rib vaults before 1150 and the fine structure of the choir walls. The transept with the rose is part of the 13th century enlargement and transformation.

Enjoy!
