I don't think it looks boringly empty, just emtpy.
But that is not nessesarly a bad thing in this case, she looks a bit "empty", sad in a way like she is thinking of someone or something...
As I'm writing this I'v been messing around with your art in photoshop. It reminded me of an image that could go well on some sort of playcard, however I just made a standar one
