Ball point pen drawing with rough colours added in Photoshop.Comments about improvements to the colour scheme are very much appreciated!
Starry night skies are one of my favourite things.

Rather than the colour scheme, I'm thinking more about the lighting.
I think working on the levels in photoshop would already make the picture a lot lighter and more contrastful.

Thank you. I am leaning toward the desaturated look, but the digital colouring is meant to help me decide the colours for the traditional piece, so I'd love to see what you have in mind.

Very pretty. I think keeping the night sky color theme would be very pretty. Dark blue black and the gold? Maybe soft color on the face and hands? It is so pretty as it is. Is Matrjona a person from a story? Or an historical figure? The theme implies something very special about her.

While I was drawing this, the shape of her dress made me think of the Russian nesting dolls, which inspired me to draw a winter landscape (cold Russian winters) and the halo-like head ornament (Russian icons).

I see what you mean. And the whole has a matronly feeling to it, like the outermost doll and the face is young like one of the innermost doll. All the layers at once! Cool!
