I've seen a few of these and most of them SICKEN me because they're either boring as fuck or Ed is completely OOC.... or both.
I'm still not sure if this will be a general Ed Ask or if it should be for the Ed from my personal headcanon, in which case his account would be linked to Priscilla's here [link] and you might see them messing with each other.

Okay, here's my thought. Thoughts. Meh.
First of all, if you do any sort of Ed characterization, and it's actually good and actually keeps him believable, then keep in mind that you're going to get a lot of comments of "Ahhhhh, Ed, I love you and want to have your babies omgggggg!!!!1" If he's an Ed in a relationship with Priscilla, you'll naturally get less of those (not none, but still).
Secondly, my girlfriend did an ask Al thing once, and then there's always the thing of time passing. While you're answering questions, time is passing, and whoever is asking questions notices. It kind of sucks to keep the characters stuck in the exact same spot forever. It takes away some of the believablity. So, if you do a canon Ed, after a while of trying to move his life forward to make it seem believable, eventually you run out of plot and have to make something up. Which turns him into a head canon anyway.
Third. Priscilla already has an ask account. Don't let the poor girl be all alone. 
Fourth. Everybody here wants to know all the gory details about Priscilla and Ed's story. This is why we watch you and grab up the few little snippets you drop here and there and try to piece them together into one cohesive whole in our head. Ask Ed combined with ask Priscilla would help a lot towards the story, I think.
Fifth. Good creative exercise. Just mimicking a character is one thing. Mimicking them, changing them and making them still be believable is a whole different ballpark.
Sixth. You obviously love the head canon Ed you have in your head. Do what you love, not what the fans want to see.
Seventh. How many canon ask Eds are out there already? Good or bad, there's plenty of them. How many Ed's from your storyline are out there? I, personally, like getting a bit of variation in these sorts of things. I read fanfiction and look at FMA OC art because I want to know what's going on in that author's head and I want to see how the story affected them personally. Not because I wanted more canon stuff. It's not possible to get more canon, really. Anything some fan makes is going to be their own spin of Ed. Even if it's incredibly similar to the original, as an artist, they will have breathed a bit of their soul into it.
Be unique, be you. And if some people don't like it, take Ed's advice and give em the finger.
((That being said, if being unique and being you means doing a canon Ed, that's great as well. I'm just guessing that you want to do a head canon.))

I decided to go with the HC idea, and if people like my RPing, I might start a second general Ask for him. :3

Excellent, glad to hear it. I didn't really mean to sit down and write an essay, but I guess I kind of happened. Rawr. At least it was helpful.
I look forward to seeing some things from Ed and seeing what your spin on him is. I know I'll be asking him some questions of my own. I look forward to seeing how you RP him.
Starting a second RP if people like him is a really good idea too. Best of both worlds, as long as it's manageable. Don't let yourself end up dedicating too much time to it. I made that problem with writing at one point, so I always try to advise people to only do something so long as it's fun. Otherwise, there's not really a point.
Bah, I'm babbling again. If you read that stuff, I'm glad you chose to do HC and I'm looking forward to it, and glad I could help. And good luck too, of course.

I have to agree, though; very few Ed roleplayers are decent and actually in character. I should know from roleplaying for 2 years.

LOL It's not a bad thing to admit you over-analyze FMA.~ I find that quite amazing! :3 It means you know how things roll in the FMA universe, and you can literally slip right into it without trouble.~ xD
And many just want to get in his pants (although they /are/ nice pants, we don't need to settle into them xD), so I'm sure they forget about certain traits he has, and add new ones to him. xD
