Description

The sky was painted with shades of peach and lavender as the sun began to rise. Soft, puffy clouds floated gently across the sky, and the sound of songbirds rang through the air. But the peace didn’t last for long. Loud, guttural screams echoed from the maternity ward within Ponyville Hospital. The sound would peter out for a few minutes, and then ring out clear as day once again, each scream more blood-curdling than the last. A small group of ponies were gathered close to the doorway, not wanting to invade the space.

“Is everything going okay? She’s okay, right?” A small voice finally spoke up in a moment of silence. It wavered, clearly nervous. It was Apple Bloom, the youngest Apple sibling. Her brother, Big Mac, towered over her smaller and younger frame even though she was an adult.

“Ah’m sure Granny and Miss Heart know what they’re doing…” He replied, trying to sound reassuring.

“What, you’ve already forgotten how strong and brave AJ is?” A pegasus stallion suddenly spoke up, giving a crooked grin. His shoulders were slumped with his droopy wings and ruffled feathers. His eyes were tired, but gleamed with hope and humor.

“Soarin’s right! I’m sure she’ll handle this and we’ll be meeting your little niece very soon, darling.” Rarity smiled, looking just as tired as the pegasus next to her. Soarin beamed with her agreement, and opened his mouth to make another statement before they were interrupted. Another loud scream, but this time it was cut short. Every pony perked their ears, trying to peer inside the tiny window as best they could, but their view blocked by the shatter-proof wiring and the crowding of equipment.

Then, another cry. Smaller, and shriller than the one they had grown so used to. The ponies smiled at each other, Mac began tearing up beside his family and friends. No words needed to be exchanged.

After a few minutes, the midwife they call Miss Heart walked out of the room with a bright smile, “Which of you want to be the first to meet the new addition?”

Apple Bloom, Big Mac and Rarity looked at Soarin immediately. He looked a little surprised, but smiled. “Alright, I’ll go! But,” He paused, looking up at Rarity, “Come with me? You’ve been a huge help to Applejack and me since we found out, I think it’s only fair!”

Miss Heart smiled, “Only two ponies would be good at first, if it’s alright with everyone?” Macintosh and Apple Bloom smiled, both reassuring them they should be first.

“Hey ya’ll.” Applejack whimpered at the sight of her best friend and Soarin. Her voice was hoarse and quiet, she was clearly exhausted. In her arms she held a small bundle.

“That’s…” Soarin whispered, stepping forward as Rarity followed.

“Yep. Meet our little girl,” Applejack moved her hooves, turning the swaddled foal slightly as they approached. The little filly didn’t seem to take too well to the new movement, immediately screwing her eyes as the bright lights of the room hit her. She opened her mouth wide, and let out a wail as she began to cry.

“Oh, darling, she’s beautiful!” Rarity exclaimed, bending her head forward to peer closer. Soarin craned his own head forward as well, smiling sleepily as his eyes teared.

“She’s lovely, AJ.” Soarin whispered, in awe of the thing they had created. He felt a wave of excitement and fear swell inside him. Would he be a good dad? He’d do the best he could, but would that be enough? The chubby face let out a little sound as some drool bubbled from her lips. He felt his lips turn up.

“Had you two decided on a name?” The sudden voice of Miss Heart broke them from their moment.

“Bluebell..” Applejack’s voice murmured, looking down at their little baby with adoration. They had talked about possible names, but hadn’t really settled on any. But as she looked down at the little fluffy child in her arms, it seemed perfect. She looked up at Soarin, seeking his approval as well when she realized she had said it out loud. He looked down, mulling the name over in his head, and quietly said it to himself. He looked up, a gleam of joy in his eyes.

“Yeah, she’s a Bluebell for sure.”

I just completed this Next Gen piece for my next gen universe!! It's not the greatest thing in the world, I'm really new to shading and I missed Soarin's wings. But I'm really proud of finishing it and revealing a NG bab, a Soarin x Applejack girl called Bluebell (sometimes stylized as Blue Belle, but her canon name is Bluebell).

In this verse, Applejack and Soarin met at a Wonderbolts Rally, where Rainbow Dash asked her to provide some refreshments for the event. Applejack and Soarin started dating after meeting up after the Rally for some baking lessons, but it was brief and they parted on mutual circumstances. However, Applejack found out she was pregnant and after confiding in Rarity, her and Soarin decided to raise their foal as friends. After Bluebell is born, Rarity confesses that she has feelings for AJ and they begin dating, and eventually marry and have two kids of their own.

I'd really really like to thank some of my inspirations for making my own NG, this is just the beginning to hopefully a huge passion project of mine!! Vindhov , Earthsong9405 and of course the amazing Lopoddity are some of my greatest inspirations and I hope to someday live up to their legacies as well! I hope I make ya'll proud even though you don't even know me :')
