Description The next morning was probably the oddest of Jamie’s unnatural life. He had never had a morning quite like this one. He woke with an odd feeling in the pit of his stomach. His head was full of the twisted and scary dreams he had, had the night before. Down below him he could hear Simon and Izzy’s voices, he blocked out that as quickly as he could, not wanting to know what they were saying.
He was over his little infatuation with Simon of the night before. But as he thought about it more and more and the series of events played through his head he remembered the realization he had come to the night before.
“Oh my God, I’m gay.” He said to himself.
From his own eyes everything was different. Being gay wasn’t something Jamie expected himself to become. In his mind he had always imagined gay people to be a little bit out of touch with society as they sat in their one room flats and watched dancing unicorns and rainbows. For him it was much different. He didn’t see rainbows he saw the mystery boy.
The mystery boy was in his mind as he cautiously got dressed that day thinking about what would make him get noticed by people. The boy floated in his head as he filled a bottle with AB negative and shoved it in his bag. On the ride to school he almost ran a red light because his senses had filled with the fruit like scent of this mystery boy.
This boy whom he had never met was all Jamie could think about. He seriously debated following the kid again that day but Airic told him that he wasn’t allowed to miss class. In his new found ways he wasn’t very fond of disappointing his friends. His best friend was one he was going to need soon. Airic at least had to know that he was batting for the other team now.
“What the heck is wrong with you?” She asked as they walked into the building.
Jamie was searching the parking lot for any sign of the boy. There was nothing, he couldn’t see him, he couldn’t smell him, and he couldn’t hear his footsteps anywhere. Immediately his mind and New Jamie jumped to the worst conclusions. He tried to keep himself calm as he answered Airic. “Oh, I’m just looking for someone.”
“Who I’m right here,” Airic said a little conceded like.
Jamie smiled. “You know you don’t have to be my only friend. I can talk to other people too.”
“Oh no you can’t,” Airic laughed a little bit, she always enjoyed their little bit of joking.
“Oh yes I can, watch.” Jamie walked up to a random stranger and started talking about the weather. Everyone could tell that this girl wasn’t used to being talked to by someone as beautiful as Jamie. Airic grabbed his arm and apologized to the girl for his behavior telling her that he was hyped up on his medicine.
“Okay fine so you can talk to other people. But still who were you looking for?”
“Someone,” Jamie said vaguely as they sat down in their class.
“You’re really not going to tell me?”
“Nope,”
“Okay then. Just so you know me, Simon, and Izzy are leaving for lunch. Maddox said he wanted to meet with us without you.”
Jamie was a little hurt by this. If anything he needed now it was his make shift father who had been his guiding light all through his blood loving life. “What why?”
“Ah, now you want the answers. I’m not telling you so there.” She crossed her arms and looked up at the teacher who was starting class.
Jamie was taken aback. Maddox wanted to meet with them. He hadn’t even told his own son he was in town. What was wrong with the world these days? First he sees new light and now his own father isn’t giving him the time of day. His eyes stung a little at the thought that his Venom Father didn’t want him anymore. Why the heck did Maddox want those three and not Jamie too? He tried not to think about it too much in fear that he might start crying in the middle of first period.
What was he going to do when lunch came around now? He definitely wasn’t going to be one of those nerds who ate in the bathroom stall. Not that it would matter much in the case of Jamie because he didn’t really eat but he still felt hurt that he wasn’t invited to Maddox’s little lunch date. Then the idea hit him. That boy always sat at the same table no matter if someone else was there or not. What if Jamie were that other person? He could finally talk to the mystery boy and get to know the man behind the scent so good. That was his plan. After third period he would high tail himself over to the outer lunch area and sit at that table.
Finally the bell rang signaling the end of third period. As promised Airic disappeared down the hall to where Simon and Izzy were waiting for her hand in hand. Jamie almost sprinted his way over to the lunch room. Everyone noticed that he was by himself and he was hurtling through the doors to the outer area at a fast pace. Jamie surprised himself at his actions. Sure the guy was cute but was it really worth almost breaking school property just to see a boy who probably wasn’t even into Jamie that way.
‘You know, you could tell him. I’ve seen him he’s definitely just like you and me. I wouldn’t worry about it.’
‘Yeah, well it’s a good thing I’m not you then isn’t it?’ Jamie took out a book that was in his bag and turned to the page he had marked. His ears listened for the boy to approach.
What if the boy didn’t come because he was sitting there that day? The kid had probably seen him in the bushes and behind the dumpster the day before. Jamie convinced himself that his act had been one of stupidity and selfishness. He told himself and New Jamie that the entire thing had possibly been a huge mistake because now he wanted to see the boy. The boy was like a magnet for Jamie. His electromagnetic pull never released Jamie.
There were then footsteps coming towards the table. Jamie didn’t look up thinking that it wouldn’t be the boy he so desperately wanted to know and wanted to…well he didn’t want to think of that part too much. Those kinds of thoughts were not a good thing for a vampire in his state. If he thought of love he needed love. God, it was like blood lust, if you thought of blood you needed blood. Jamie hated blood lust almost as much as he hated love lust. The footsteps stopped.
