Dang its too bad the image is ruined with the text through the middle of it.

Adharmageddon In reply to DKSartist [2010-01-04 20:00:32 +0000 UTC]

It's a watermark,She does'nt want others to steal
her work. But watermarks mess up the clarity of the work. And it truly is beautiful.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DKSartist In reply to Adharmageddon [2010-01-05 20:31:18 +0000 UTC]

Yes it does ruin the image. Watermarks are so easy to remove so I don't understand why some use them. A thief will steal the image and simply remove the watermark, so all it serves is to spoil the view for the rest of us. A simple line of copyright text by the border indicates the work is not free to use. Yes it is just as easy to remove, BUT at least it allows us a clear view. Its why you don't see most of the top professionals using them.

Adharmageddon In reply to DKSartist [2010-01-06 21:53:14 +0000 UTC]

I dont even use them. And then there's some of us that give these useless threats like, "Steal, And I'll.. blah blah blah blah blah." Thinking we'll scare the art thiefs away. The thief's not going to care. But.. there is a way to protect your art. Have you ever heard of the "Berne Convention?" see one of 's journal on more on this.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DKSartist In reply to Adharmageddon [2010-01-07 19:48:55 +0000 UTC]

Yes I know the Berne Convention and even though we have automatic copyright whether marked or not, many incorrectly assume something isn't protected without that little C in a circle. That's why I use it, and putting © yourname along the sides or botttom serves another purpose... when someone likes an image and downloads it, without the intention on "stealing it" - perhaps just to add the image to a collection of art they like, having the artist's name clearly legible will remind them who created it in case they do want / need to contact or google the artist. Many times you can't read the artist's signature in images of the art.

Adharmageddon In reply to DKSartist [2010-01-11 19:08:23 +0000 UTC]

Yup that's a good way to keep your art safe.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DKSartist In reply to Adharmageddon [2010-01-12 05:47:34 +0000 UTC]

The only way to keep your art safe is not to display it, and who wants to do that, no one I know. Its a shame really.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Adharmageddon In reply to DKSartist [2010-01-13 21:34:16 +0000 UTC]

I think art thieves will be found out if they steal.

Adharmageddon In reply to DKSartist [2010-01-14 18:19:58 +0000 UTC]

you could pay for a copyright to your work. That would help for sure.

Thieves will steal no matter what.

Adharmageddon In reply to DKSartist [2010-01-15 19:43:12 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, ok but if they do steal, theyre bound to get sued.
