This group of riverside granaries has a unique character on a national and European scale. Built from the late 13th until the 18th century, 26 imposing redbrick structures are a landmark in the waterfront panorama of old town. They are a reminder of the times of the booming grain trade and inland navigation on the Vistula. Closely connected with city walls and gates, the granaries were also part of the town's fortification system. Nowadays five granaries are occupied by the museum, some by the Town Office and remaining ones have performed housing functions since their conversion in the late 19th and early 20th centuries...
