Description Clove slowly got out of her black Corvet. She stared at the window, and took a deep breath. Here we were. Olive Garden. On a date. A few days ago, she never would have guessed. Maybe, once he's given up whatever detective work he's trying to do, she could finally be in an actual relationship with him.

She sighed. Like that would ever happen.

Even so, she could pretend she loved him for now, can't she?

She felt the soft black silk of her dress brush against her thighs as she lifted it up, stepping onto the off-white sidewalk. Glancing at her reflection in the restaurant window, she thought to herself, Am I beautiful enough to convince...?

Yesss... a voice whispered in her ear, a voice from a being only she could see.

Of course. She had spent nearly seven hours getting ready for this, making her makeup perfectly symmetrical, placing each hair fall exactly where it should be, getting the right aroma, not too strong yet not too subtle. Of course she was beautiful. Beautiful enough to get anyone , even a foreign teen with a strange accent, to fall in love with her.

She walked into the lobby, and started scanning it for Hide. Finding him, she started to walk towards him.

"Hi," he said, smiling. He had no idea at this point that she was investigating anything, he was left confused ever since she asked.

"Hello," she said, smiling back.

"Chemayo..." he said in his native tongue, looking over her in amazement. Like a Rensian goddess... just like a Rensian goddess.

"Huh?"

"Nothing."

A waitress in a maroon apron, with black hair and white highlights walked over to where they were standing. "Table for two?"

"Yes, please," Clove said, and followed the waitress to a booth. She slid into one side, while Hide sat in the bench across from her.

Now, to start a conversation. "So, how are you?" she asked softly.

"Well, I was just playing Minecraft, so I am rather relaxed," Hide said, his playful smile slowly spreading across his face once again. That was a bit of a lie, he was on his computer, but he was trying to break into the school's servers to get information on Clove.

"Oh, I was busy getting ready," she said, pulling her sleeve even further down her arm, showing her smooth, pale shoulders, as if she was uncomfortable. To seem innocent, she thought. "It took me quite a while."

"It payed off. You look great."

Despite herself, Clove blushed. "Oh... thanks..."

"I didn't realize it was so formal..." Hide said, a stark contrast from her in his baggy jeans and his T-shirt with some Japanese symbols printed on it, and with his headphones still around his neck. Not that he cared about formal, after all, in his home nation, formal clothing was whatever clothing was associated with your occupation. The way he grew up, he would have a school uniform and as would Clove.

"Oh, it's fine," she said, her blush still lingering, "You look great."

"Thanks," Hide said, "Anyway, I've never been here before. What do you suggest I order?"

"The red wine here is great. Imported direct from Italy." Intoxication. Makes people make more rash decisions, or fall in love. Exactly what state she needs him to in.

"The wine?" Hide said, doubtful. Alcohol was frowned upon in Rensi, and Hide himself knew that it was inefficient to get drunk. "Um, I'll just get water."

Clove nodded as the waitress walked up to their table.

"Can I get you anything drink?" The waitress said, looking at Hide.

"I'll have water."

The waitress wrote it down, and looked at Clove.

Clove bit her lip. If he wasn't under the influence, she better not be, either. "Water for me, please."

"Alright," The waitress said, "Are you two ready to order?"

"I'm ready," Hide said, glancing at his menu.

"So am I," Clove said, having never touched her menu. She's been her plenty of times to know what she wanted.

"I'll have the pizza with all the meat on it," he said.

"I'll have spaghetti with meatballs," she said.

The waitress wrote down their order and left.

"So," Hide said, giving a small smile. "have you ever heard of someone with a water addiction?"

"No."

"Have you seen my 32-ounce Gatorade bottle I carry around?"

"Yeah."

"I down it twice a day."

"Wow," Clove said, as the waitress came out with their food. She started eating her meatballs slowly as Hide downed his water. Now was the time to take the conversation into her own hands. She looked down, pulling a forlorn face.

"Is something wrong?" Hide asked.

"No," Clove answered, smiling the hide the nonexistent pain.

"I know a fake smile when I see one."

Clove looked down again. "It's just that... my parents died in a car crash not too far from me." Full of lies. Of course, her parents were dead. Just not anywhere near here, and a not by car crash. A window of memory involuntarily opened up, a window she would rather keep closed. The moonlight reflecting off the stained knife, the dark blood on the wall...

Hide watched her as he slowly ate his pizza. She looked so sad... so lonely... he wished he could do something...

Clove felt a sudden warmth spread through her. Brought back to reality, she realized Hide's hand was on top of hers. She looked up into his deep violet eyes filled with concern...

"I am here for you," he said solemnly.

Clove tried to speak, to tell him thank you, but it kept getting caught in her thought. So instead she simply nodded.

"You are the closest thing I have to a friend," Hide said, looking into her glittering, ice blue eyes.

A small jolt went through Clove's body. "I-i saw you sitting alone at lunch, but I had no idea..."

"Yeah," he said quietly. It didn't bother him that much, though. He was used to it.

Suddenly Clove wasn't so hungry anymore. "I think I'm done," she said, looking at her half-eaten plate of spaghetti.

"Yeah, me too," Hide said, his plate clean of any trace of the pizza that once was.

The waitress, overhearing them, came over and gave them their bill. Clove started putting her money in when Hide asked, "Do you want me to pay for some?"

Clove shook her head, her black curls lightly brushing her cheeks. "I'm the one who asked you out, I should pay for it."

"Alright." He stood up. "Guess I'll see you Monday."

This was it? No. She needed to do more - and she knew exactly what she needed to do.

"Oh," she said, looking down.

"What is it?" Hide asked.

"I thought we could do something else."

"What did you want to do?"

Clove looked up and gave a small smile. "Want to go for a drive?"

Hide smiled back. "Sure."

Clove stood up and went to her black Corvette, with Hide following. As he followed, he started thinking. Was this just an investigation? No, this was turning into something more.

As she was driving, she couldn't help but think of him. He was nice... nicer than she thought he would be and he really seemed to care for her, but what did he really think of her? She wished she knew, it would make life so much easier for her... and what did she think of him? He was cute, and really smart, so nice to her, someone who understands her for who she is... did she love him? She couldn't, that would mess everything up, but her soul was heating up, and those caring eyes...

"You can look at me, but just don't crash," Hide said.

Clove blinked. She hadn't realized she was looking at him. "Right," she said, looking back at the road.

She pulled into a city overlook and turned off the car. The city lights shined bright below, and the moon softly kissed them, making their skin glow slightly with its same whiteness.

She looked at Hide, and met his eyes once more. They were the eyes of someone who cared for her, something she hadn't seen for a long time.

She looked down. She didn't want to see those eyes... it hurt too much...

"You really are beautiful," Hide said.

Clove looked back up at him, to meet those caring eyes...

Next thing she knew, she was on fire. It didn't hurt, rather feeling something desirable, something she couldn't live without, as she pulled his body closer, felt his lips pressed against her mouth. She needed more. She slipped his tongue in his mouth, inviting him closer. He responded, pushing his own tongue in his mouth, exploring it like a miner would a cave. As he set the coal dust of the cave on fire, she could feel it permanently searing a mark deep into her soul, and she realized that she loved him. That he was now an integral part of her, one she couldn't be rid of easily.

Suddenly she felt cold. Opening her eyes, she found he had pulled away.

"No," he whispered, "not now. It's too soon."

Filled with sadness, Clove looked down.

"Clove... I love you."

Looking up into his amethyst eyes, she felt her own start to water. He hugged her, and she cried into the warmth of his chest. It wasn't pretend. She was in love...
