Description

Historians such as Peter Hart would argued that rifles were a symbolic importance to the Volunteers of the IRA – a sign that they real soldiers and, he argued, real men. The real killing was done by clandestine operatives with concealed weapons. No one should doubt the symbolic importance of rifles to young Volunteers. In 1914 the Irish Republicans Brotherhood organ Irish Freedom wrote, ‘A dozen rifles are more effective than a thousand resolutions in Parliament. If rifles were merely symbolic of the IRA’s view of itself as an army and the real killing was done by assassination with hand guns.  Hand guns like revolvers and semi automatics like the webley and the colt  These type of firearms are a little more easy to make than rifles, handguns are a side weapon for a emergency but were used by the IRA for raids and assassinations with the hand grenade because it was more portable than a full length rifle. When the valley of Caugax was transported to the past it had brought not only new types of handguns but cheaper ways to make them like castings and slab sliding .

1. CN Webley revolver

Caliber: .455 AUTO

Info: The Webley mark IV was the most requested revolver by members of the IRA. The townspeople had at the very lest  109,0000 webely revolvers in there stock.  But the Puetro Ricans did not wanted to give all of those revolvers to them as they had wanted them for training. So they made cheaper simplified copies of the webley to go with some of the real ones to give to the IRA. These copies where a simplified version of the webley chambered in .455 Automatic. The revolvers where made in such a way that if it where to be broken a spare part from a from a actual webley revolver could be used on this gun and vise versa . One of the most notable difference from a actual webley is barrel. The CN Webley`s barrel is more flat sided that the original mark IV as a result it looks more square. It was to give it more strength for the more powerful .455 auto cartridge and make easier to produce. It fame was made of cast steel in a similar way revolver from Charter Arms are made. It cylinder was machined out of high quality steel and with out fluting to make more stronger to take the powerful . 455 auto. These barrels and cylinders were often sold as a conversion kit for the regular mark IV.  When the flying columns and IRA groups got the revolvers. They had there reservation about the gun due to it crude look, but soon found it to be as reliable as the real webley. The gun was known in the IRA as  the Cuban webley or the Caribbean webley while in Puerto Rican service it was called the same as they call the real webley " el canon inglés" the English cannon. It is common to find these revolvers with parts taken from other webley revolvers, these revolver were called "revolver criollo" in the town of Caugax. It was the first and most common pistol in the Guerilla starter kit.

2. M1921 Victory revolver

Caliber: .455 auto

Info: A descendant of the 1917 Smith and Wesson revolver and  Smith & Wesson S&W .455 Mark II made to chamber the .455 automatic cartridge, the M1921 Victory model, was an updated wartime production version of the 1917 introduced in 1921. It was ultimately supplied to every branch of the IRA as well as the Caugax army. The Victory revolver came about when original Smith & Wesson 1917 revolvers was quickly taken out of storage and refurbished. In the refurbish the revolver was given plain wooden grips or bakelite grips, a parkerized 'gray' finish, and was rechambered for .455 auto. There were two type of barrels made for the victory revolver the regular cynical barrel and the flat sided barrels which are likely to have been designed to speed the construction process by reducing the number of cylindrical surfaces required in the construction process. The revolver never replaced the M1911/Taranis  as the primary side arm of frontline units, but it saw plenty of service as the handgun of secondary or support units. It also saw use with civilian users such as defense plant guards and local Postal Police. It was especially popular with aviators and military dog handlers. Regulations prohibited carry of the M1911/ Taranis  pistol with a live round in the chamber, but one can't drop a dog's leash or fly an aircraft hands-free while one cycles the slide to load a cartridge. In the post war years it was a very popular with civilian and police market. Some were military surplus, while others were newly manufactured. These revolvers were popular to customize like it rival the colt new service. Both revolvers could be rechambered ton .357 magnum and .44 magnum.

3. Model 1921 "Balor" Revolver "Nagant style"

Caliber: .445 webley (Nagant style ammo)

Info:  Based off the nagant 1910 and the Mexican piper revolver, the 1921 revolver was made to be suppressed like a nagant revolver but unlike the original it can be opened with a swing out cylinder and was smoother to use. It was made by both Puerto Rican and German Jewish gunsmiths. This revolver was mostly used by Twelve Apostles and the IRA when they didn't want to leave shell casings or a lot of noise after a shooting. The guns had 4 inch threaded flat sided barrel and usually came with a suppressor. In the postwar years these revolvers were giving to independence moments in the British empire like India.  In world war 2  they were air dropped to resistance fighters. A carbine version was made for commercial sale in Europe and the U.S for small game hunting but these are rare.
