Well this certainly gives fuel to the fire of my own ideas on Mewtwo's origins (game not anime or manga) and really the idea of Mewtwo harboring hatred for it's creation is easy to imagine. I however would see mewtwo forging its own psychic or Esper power into a physical weapon, a kind of literal extension of his hatred and pain that he will use to cut one man alone.
In a strange way, I like to think that (in the games) Giovanni regretted his actions and perhaps met his end at Mewtwo's hands. I mean in Heart Gold/Soul Silver there was that event thing where you could see Giovanni abandoning Silver his son and eventually facing him where upon defeat he exits into a waterfall and vanishes. I like to think when he stepped out Mewtwo appeared and struck.
