Mmm dat Meryl Felstorm. I've been thinking of getting one of these action figures and putting it on a rotating, mirrored LED display stand for my own amusement.

Do you sell casts? I'd like to paint one myself instead of buying the mass-produced pre-painted one.

What kind of material do you use specifically to make these

I been wanting to get my hand on the right material on making an Ezio Auditore
Figure from Assassins Creed.

Or at least find someone who would want to make it and I'd pay em to do it!

I must know please for this is just a unique and outstanding piece here =O

I sculpt them in various waxes and clay, usually Castilene , then mold them in silicone rubber and cast them in urethane plastic.

Sounds a tad complicated but I believe its not that hard.

Is the material expensive? Is it available at some art stores
or only online? o.o

Ask at your local art stores, they usually carry most of this stuff, or can direct you to where to find them. Castilene, and the molding and casting supplies can be pretty expensive.

holy crap thats awesome!
I'm in awe of the amount of detail. Is this a cast off a mold or did you paint it all in one color?
If you did make a mold, how on earth did you manage that? this is insanely good.

so many questions... sigh.

great job!

BLACKPLAGUE1348 In reply to TJverhagen [2012-05-27 17:57:56 +0000 UTC]

I broke it down into pieces to cast it all in this grey color. It's probably about 20 pieces.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TJverhagen In reply to BLACKPLAGUE1348 [2012-05-29 07:49:01 +0000 UTC]

great mother of god, that's a lot of pieces.

So you sculpted it in one piece and then dissembled it or somehow made the pieces separately? Because taking something this complex apart would be a pain...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BLACKPLAGUE1348 In reply to TJverhagen [2012-05-29 07:52:35 +0000 UTC]

It's very time consuming but I plan every project out with this in mind from the beginning, because they can't be produced all in one piece.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TJverhagen In reply to BLACKPLAGUE1348 [2012-05-29 12:07:45 +0000 UTC]

I figured as much. I take it then you also sculpted on armature that comes apart quite easily?

You obviously put a lot of time in effort into this, but it sure paid off.
My hat is off to thee. thanks for sharing.

I have quite a few friends who are in to these figurines, and while i never got any myself I was always impressed by the artistry in them and intrigued by how they might be created and molded with such detail. How do they convert your wonderful detailed model to the 1" figurines they sell?
