Description
Stegosaurus was a genus of quadrupedal armoured herbivore that lived the late Jurassic period (159 million years ago - 144 million years ago to be specified) in present day western United States. They usually grew to a length of 6.5 metres long and as high as 9 metres high. They could have weighed up to 3 to 5 tonnes. The brain of a Stegosaurus was a size of a walnut and paleontologists once believed that a brain was located near the butt. The spiked tail was called the thagomizer. Though the Stegosaurus was a herbivore, it was not above eating small rocks to help with digestion.
