This is gorgeous! I love it when illustrations showcase the environment of the animals as well. You did a great job with this, I love the surface of the ocean, it looks so liquid. All those little shapes you painted onto the surface... love it. Also the right whale himself looks very lifelike. I especially like the attention to detail of their sloughing skin and the scars on his pec fin

Thank you so much!! I'm glad you appreciate the surface ripples because those were TOUGH

The weird lumps and markings on these whales is part of what makes me love them so much, I'm glad you like them too!

I can imagine! Painting water is like painting something that has a mind of its own - often it's a struggle, sometimes it just accidentally goes well, and it takes a long time to tame and master

That's definitely what I love about them too. They're so different from your archetypical whale, and they're just very beautiful animals.

This is just perfect. I'd read the heck out of a book illustrated with illustrations like this.Β

This is absolutely beautiful. The sense of depth and the water surface texture is amazing. It all feels so majestic and vast, but incredibly peaceful at the same time. Well done.

Wonderful! The top of the waves are so believable! The perspective and foreshortening are also very well done. So serene.Β
