Description Gouache on wrapped Canvas.
8"x10"

I watched the documentary "happy people" the other day, the dogs in that film were incredible. It goes to show how much we pamper our dogs in America, we have no idea how strong and amazing they could be in a different lifestyle. It inspired me to draw this. A wise old Siberian hunting dog.

8) Daaamn, that's awesome! I wasn't sure at first if traditional or digital (by the thumbnail), but damnnnn. It looks amazing. Good luck with your sales on Etsy~! (Used to sell there, trying to warm myself up to my own online shop atm >A>; )

My dog is a mix of a couple herding breeds, so she's a bit out of place in a suburban neighborhood. She needs a ton of physical and mental stimulation to stay happy, and I really want to try doing pet therapy with her someday if I can wrangle my own physical health to keep her energy down with adequate exercise. (At the moment I'm too ill to walk her regularly enough and she's of course high-energy...) She's one of those dogs who I think needs a job to be truly satisfied, and I want to provide for her.

But look at me going off on a tangent about dogs on your deviation. 8( I guess your art just inspired the pet owner in me. ;>

THank you so much! ohh awesome! Etsy is a great place, but having your own online shop would be even better c:

That is awesome that you care for your dogs physical needs. I own two australian shepherds myself, I wanted to get them into agility as their "job" for a while but I didn't really enjoy it. It wasn't very adventurous.

If you're looking for a job for your dog, I suggest bikejoring. It's mentally and phycially challenging and so much fun. It's basically dog sledding but on a bike. Herding dogs are typically pretty good at it, especially with commands and obstacles. I've done races with my dogs too.

I'm glad it did! c:

Oh, wow. Bikejoring, to me, just sounds so scary because my dog gets distracted very easily and I'm the opposite of skilled on a bike to begin with. @ @; (It's not true what they say: You never forget how to ride...) But, the distraction is because she doesn't get enough exercise or discipline and could be solved... :S It's just my nerves as a human which prevents me from trying new things to try and get her out and moving.

I'll get out and do some research about the practice, though. o-o Surely there are dog owners who had my same reservations about Bikejoring and ended up trying it and were just fine, after all. And I think that if I ended up trying it, it would be excellent for my pup and for me; I'm very out of shape (it's affecting my physical health because I'm very sedentary e_e; ) and she needs my attention. ;< Thanks for the tip! :>

Yeah you should definitley be comfortable riding a bike before you bikejor, haha. I mountain bike so I consider myself proficient at riding, but I fall ALL the time while bikejoring so maybe not so much cx I'm super clumsy though and bad at reading situations.Β

But you could always practice biking and then ease your dog into bikejoring. And they even have bicycle attachments for your dog so they can't pull you over. Like the springer www.springeramerica.com/ , or this one that's supposed to be even betterΒ howlingdogalaska.com/index.php… (but way expensive for some reason).Β

I started out running my dogs next to my bike, connecting the leash to the seat post. And if we went by any distractions I'd just go as fast as I could so my dogs would have to concentrate on running instead of the distraction. Then I made the leash longer and longer until they were in front. It was that easy.Β

But there are tons of other dog sports out there. Carting or packing is great for slow walks, to give them a little extra work to do.Β

I don't comment/fave your pieces as much as I should but I look at all of them and I must say as I've said before - I love your art so much!
