Description fashion catalogs, glue stick, bristol board

Flying home from Phoenix I got to watch the mountains go by while listening to Sigur Ros, that was really inspiring. Also I went to Mima Mounds on my way home from Portland and that was probably the most beautiful place I've ever seen. Both of those surreal landscapes really drove me to make this.

My aunt recently gave me an Anthropologie catalog that she was going to throw out. And so I made this with it (also an Urban Outfitters catalog). Their stuff is cute but SO EXPENSIVE. If I'm going to buy clothing for that much I'll give local boutiques my business.

WOW, this is fantastic!
The textures in this are perfect and they all work well together to complement the colors and the individual shapes really well. I really love all the straightforward shapes/symbols.

thank you! c: Yeah I took a lot of the shapes from my "mark of the dog" watercolor piece, which is way similar to this not that I think about it cx

You're welcome!
You're right, there are some similarities, but you took the concept and grew on it.

I swear most of these days I see people do some sort of paper filter to pull stuff like this off on Photoshop. It's really nice to see this was made legitly with paper crafts. Really awesome! It's pretty cool what kinds of textures you can find in magazines and catalogs.

thank you! yeah I know what you mean c: This method is probably a lot more messy than doing it in photoshop though haha. I'm still finding little scraps of paper throughout my room.

Yeah creating it that way might be a tad messy but I still like traditional collages better. Feels more authentic to me and just fun finding the right paper. I used to love how one of our projects in freshman art class was collages with not only paper but cloth and feathers and other stuff.

yeah. I mean when there're too many options out there I get way too overwhelmed. Like I would if I was getting textures from the internet.
Wow that's really cool! I bet you made some cool stuff.

Haha nah, my collages weren't very good. Almost like elementary school collages. I should try it again sometime and try to improve.
