Just felt like to upload something, and here's one of my 'simplified' (or so my art lecturer calls this kind of style) figure sketches I'm currently working on -in other words, it's one of my art collage assignment, where I've to do 1 set of 4 pieces of figure (or portrait) works, on A3 size layout pad
Apparently I've to do about 5 or 4 sets, as I've been rather lazy to do them the past few weeks, but the tutor was so nice to let me finish anytime at least before my one-week break next week X'D

This one's my favourite so far. I'm really pleased with it. Drawing and shading wind-blown hair is rather tasking (or so to say, for the lack of a better word) But I'm happy with the result X'D

The movement in her windswept hair makes her look really lovely! I also like how the detailing turned out on her as well.

nice work. The only thing that bothers me a it is the somewhat manly lower jaw ^^"" Either way, nice details ^^

What do you expect from an artist who draws men ALL the time (and RARELY draws female out of the blue)? 'Sides, everyone has a unique jaw-line of their own -no one's perfect

Pardon the crankiness.... gotta 'love' pms -_-;

So I guessed, but iyf I don't need to be reminded >.>; But then I find it easier to draw woman with that kind of jaw line rather than thin feminine looking ones (which I aways seem to get them out of proportion at some point)

Right, but unfortunately I don't know what shampoo she's using (so my hair could be as sleek as hers)

You've drawn it from your head or used model ? big lips.

blackstorm In reply to Kaoriu [2007-06-25 12:39:17 +0000 UTC]

With reference of course (which is highly recommended by my art lecturers in collage -they don't accept works that isn't done with a model reference unless they ask us to)

Yeah, but 4 figure sketches a week? *dies* True, it doesn't look that bad, but frankly I've been doing tons of figure sketching assignments ever since I enrolled from the collage nearly 4 years ago, and I'm getting really tired of it, albeit that the number of it isn't so bad now compared to 6-8 a week in the past (but then and again...). It's almost like doing the same work over and over =_=;

Kaoriu In reply to blackstorm [2007-06-26 08:53:36 +0000 UTC]

I understand. For most people drawing is just a hobby , for you it's work to do for which you get later marks. And still the same 'topic' .. aah it can be really boring and tiring .. Hang on sis , these exercises must finally end.

blackstorm In reply to Kaoriu [2007-06-26 12:29:55 +0000 UTC]

Yeah... I always consider drawing as a fun thing, but now hurled into art collage it feels more like work than fun (which is the root of the cause of my lost of passion in drawing --Yes, I know that I'm (at least) still drawing bit by bit, but it's a stark contrast from the years before collage where I draw dozens of sketches at a time, seriously, not like 1, 2 or 3 times a week/month/etc. like I do now...... ah those where the good old days...and I miss feeling that kind of passion *sigh*).
