When you read past the brad & circuses PR passed-off as "news", the Stryker proves itself to be a disaster.

For example, out of 4000 US military KIAs be 2008, 400 were SBCT troops. That's 10% of all deaths from a force of only 6000 troops (less than 10% of all troops deployed), 20% of all US combat unit KIAs, and 30% of all US AFV formation KIAs in Iraq.

The vehicles themselves suffered 660 Stryker FOV chassis' knocked-out by 2007, 100+ of which were damaged badly-enough that they had to be shipped back to Kuwait for repairs, and another 100+ had to be shipped all the way back to the *US* for a full factory re-build.
Incidentally, 660 Strykers is more than what two entire SBCTs operate (recall that there were TWO SBCTs in Iraq the whole time), and also amounts to 30% of the entire Stryker inventory at the time.

Then there are the 28 performance requitrements set for the IAV Requirement that the Stryker failed all of, the *never-exceed* budget of $7 Billion for the Stryker Program ordered by Congress that has so far been exceeded by $40 Billion (and that figure is 3 years old --- a LOT more has gone down the toilet since then), the promised C-130 transportability that was never possible, and the top-ranking officers involved in the Stryker Scam who are not making seven figures with GDLS and it's fiscal allies --- to include the Army CSA himself, who is known as the "Father of the Stryker Brigade".

If you have the stomach to learn more, watch the slide-shows in my gallery.

It's such a perfect job for the Stryker, isn't it?

They don't go in with the Light forces to back them up, and they quit and huddle into safe rear areas once Heavy forces arrive on-scene --- so, it's only natural that Strykers would be used for cleanups!
