Description Thought things were bad in Part 1? Wait until you see how the F2A Buffalo fared in the REST of World War 2!

You saw in Part 1 that the Buffalo didn't do too well for the RAF and RAAF in Southeast Asia, but what about the Netherlands and the US in the Pacific Theater, and Finland in the Winter War and Continuation War?

Also, what finally became of the Buffalo? These questions will be answered in Part 2.

As promised in the description field for Part 1, here are the rest of my sources for this presentation...

Finally, here are two sources I found on the Buffalo --- the US Navy and the Australian War Memorial --- that have since wiped their web pages on it. They're still blank as of the upload date of this presentation. It makes you wonder if they're trying to hide something embarrasing, doesn't it?;

At the start of WWII, news reports called the Buffalo, "the most powerful fighter in the Pacific". Later on, the Brewster company built F4U Corsairs, to redeem themselves, I guess.

The only other aircraft that Brewster produced (aside from the F4U Corsairs you mentioned) was the Buccaneer, a torpedo bomber meant for widespread use in the US Navy. You'll be hearing about *this* aircraft in the future as well.

Also, Brewster's license-built Corsairs ended up being the poorest performing and least reliable aircraft of that series, and the Navy quickly withdrew them from service. That can't be blamed on simply being a difficult aircraft for other companies to figure out, because some of the best Corsairs of the war were produced by Goodyear. Brewster failed at building Corsairs for the same reason they failed at designing the Buffalo and Buccaneer; they were con men with excellent political engineering skills, but little competence in *aeronautical* engineering.

You don't know how badly I want to cover the F-35, but trying to gather notes on all of it's flaws is like trying to cut all the heads of a hydra; every time you're finished with one, several more take it's place.

To give you an idea of how huge an issue the F-35 is, have a look at the problems it has accumulated over the years.

yeah the series to present with this stupid money waster of a fight craft, but be just as long as any of the other money wasters in the US army.
