Great work, and im sorry if you hate me for this, but the guy looks like frankenstein... ish... Maybe its just me and my racist ways at lookin at skin tone... that was a joke...

His head does look like frankenstein's monster's. Although I don't see what that has to do with skin tone.

good symbolism, i believe however that the style in which it is drawn is a bit too much like clip-art to suit my tastes. still a good job.

No matter how many time it's broken, there's always someone there to help you heal your heart, if only you take your time and look back on things. That's what I see in it. The man is trying to walk away from his ripped out heart, but is held back by the memories. If he would look back on them, he'd see the guy that is trying to pick his heart up.

Just stumbled across this...read through what other people think it means, felt left out and like I should add my two-pence worth! I think the guy on the left has thrown his heart away because it hurts too much to keep it in. He'd rather not have a heart because then he can't feel. The guy on the right is picking it up because he knows left-guy'll come back for it eventually - he knows the truth that left-guy doesn't, that you're shackled to your heart (that's the stone one) however badly you mistreat it.

Then again, your interpretation definitely depends on your state of mind! I think most people would recognise something of themselves in here...which is pretty smashing.

The preview wasn't messed up for me. But I zoomed in anyway.

The trail of blood being left behind by the stone heart he drags by his heels is effective, and you made this whole piece even more meaningful by making the old version of him holding the red heart look at the new one who'd lost it.

Your work is exceptional!

Interesting. I like it. It says to me that no matter how you try, as long as you're human you can't completely cut off your emtions and desires. You will always have some connection with the rest of humanity, whether you like it or not.

Very nice

I see...
Unrequited love. The memory of the pain it brought is all he has left to cling to. He ripped his heart out to show how much he cared, only to have it thrown back in his face. Someone close to him tries to put back the pieces, but the cracks, the scars will always be there, forever under the surface.

wow.. this is wow..
i think its about a man with a heart "de pierre"
he threw his real heart, n chose 2 have a cold heart.
and about the other person.. hmm i think he's some1 who made the guy with the cold heart suffer that he chose 2 have a cold heart.
anyways.. its great

by asking that question you have suddenly given this picture so much more depth...at first when i saw it it seemed more mysterious, with the fog and lamplight. after thinking about your question and looking at it for a few more minutes i see heartache that won't let go and weighs you down, to the point that they try to get rid of their heart to avoid the pain it gives them, but the memory of heartache is like a heavy chain that still remains...'you will always have one heart' as in, after you give it away to one you love and they reject it, you try to let go of the feelings, but they remain in a different form (the ball and chain) that holds you down. i might be confusing you now...i'm confusing myself actually.
i'll ponder on this more and may come back to give a better answer at some stage. Is there any particular answer you had in mind when you made this by the way?

this picture brought back that feeling, that moment when you are so sad you feel your heart has been replaced by nothing, a welting emptyness is all that is left and it seems your heart chakra flys out to try and grab whatever it lost, but fails.......your supposed to accept that but you cant, so you feel dark.

fantastic piece, its so simple but so deep and emotive.

Bassem looking at this deviation again I see something different. The man surely has a broken heart and a heavy one dragging behind him... but the man behind is no spectator nor a friend, he is his former self. A piece of him left behind too when his heart was broken.

Just thinking

I like even though it's so sad... the poor guy that's been so upset he's trying to get rid of his heart, and can't get away from the pain (tied round its ankle)... but what I actually like best is the lighting effects with the streetlamps and the fog.

I've placed another man because I didn't want to focus on the romantic side - also, it might imply that the person had left his heart with his girlfriend.

Well, technically I have about ten hearts. Nine are pickled, and sit on my shelf at home. But in any case; a melancholy, but understated piece. I like that you haven't overdone the atmosphere and have just let the action speak for itself. Nice lineart, and cool concept.

What do I make of this picture..?
Depression, ofcourse!

E.g; you fall in love.. and it's "the love of your life.. there will be no one greater than he/she . . .yaddi yadda" and one day it all ends.. and you get depressed.. and you say "this was the love of my life - there will be nothing greater than this, so why do I even continue to live my life?".. and you by being depressed.. and having that negative attitude.. you take out your real heart and replace it with a cold stone heart (which here is resembled as a stone heart with a chain around his foot. He has become a prisoner.. and all this because he got depressed and saw no other way to cheer up.

But as the title says; You will always have one heart...
Charish it and take care of it..

But this is just my two cents.. *smiles*
I dunno if this is what you were trying to say with it..

Great drawn though... seriously; you should sell these images.. they are beautiful

Your friend!

What I see is someone who's been betrayed/hurt too many damn times. The softeness of his heart Aka his kindness/warmth towards others/selflessness/etc. has been taken advantage of too many times. Thus he can no longer keep his "original" heart, can no longer be "soft" and kind because people see that as a weakness. It's really friggin depressing but it's true, in today's world kind/caring/warm = weak/gullible/a target to be taken advantage of, while cold/hard/uncaring = strong/someone not to mess with/ someone you wouldn't dare try to target cause he'll see through that bullcrap in an instant, its sad, but that's just how it is. *My oppinon * So, he got rid of his "old kind/warm heart" and replaced it with a "new hard/cold one" To be sure he'll never be a target for people who enjoy takeing advantage of those who have sincere kindness/caring for others. Yeah..I'm prolly way off XD But thats what I see right now *is angsting right now over something like that* lol I see a man who trusted the world, and the world rewarded him with a broken heart brought on via betrayal of that trust. I see a man who was a rarity, who really meant it when he said he cared for someone, and I see him being turned into the commoner, the one who may say "I care" but means something along the lines of "I care...so long as its convinent for me" and I see him being forced to turn, forced to turn by none other then those he cared for and trusted in the first place. XD;;;;;;;; ACK! Yes..I'm loseing it now <@__@;;; Forgive me and my ramble for I am angsty and suger high at the same time which is bad, bad mix *dies* XD Awesome pic by the way! You've such a cool and orignal drawing style! I think I shall fav this, yes I do ^^

ooooo good gosh...thats like sad...broken hearted..first love (if i'm not mistaken) i often think about that sorta thing..u give ur heart to someone, trusting then to care for it ..they have the power to shall i say 'make you or break you' most times hearts are broken..and sadness comes in..we find another then its 'all better' however, sometimes i suppose we still think back to the first one...how terribly beautiful and sad...

randomthought [2004-07-07 13:47:35 +0000 UTC]

ahhh Matters of the heart *sigh*..... For me this represents choice and change....I see a division of self - two halves of one person existing in different times occupying the same space. The beauty of this picture is that it can be interpreted and analysed a million different ways- it gives people the option to explore that hidden part (or parts...) of themselves which is never seen but is always there. I see someone caught in limbo- between life and death, love and hate, past and future.... Which path does he choose? Which path do any of us choose really? Life is a series of choices and as evidenced by this stunning drawing, the most devestating and painful ones, but also the most inspiring and the ones with the greatest potential for true happiness are ALWAYS of the heart, but that is what makes this quirky lil thing called "Life" worth living really!! (In my opinion anyway.... )
What I see is that of a man EXISTING in a decision- To use/open up his heart or to guard it & ignore it until it becomes obsolete.... to leave the past behind or to wallow in it? I guess we inject ourselves and our own lives into our perceptions/explanations of the things around us- ESPECIALLY Art- It's unavoidable really....everything around us is merely an imprint of what our concious and sub-conscious minds can come up with! THAT'S what this picture is- it's a visual representation of the concious and sub-conscious minds- two halves of the same entity.....the fog representing the mysterious and illusive qualities of the sub-conscious mind- the place of dreams...and the lights representing the clarity of the concious/logic mind....it's what is 'seen' and 'easily understood' i guess you could say....and we see the sadness & the lonliness... the inherent burden that comes with this ongoing battle of our 2 halves/selves...if only "they" could see that between them, they have the makings of our one perfect self---both sides working together, complimenting one another, completing one another. A blessed union of truth, purity and ultimate joy and happiness.....love.
I am truly struck and profoundly effected by this creation of yours ....and that comes as quite a surprise actually, when I started this, I had ZERO clue of where my liking of a single artwork of yours would lead me....I realise that much, oh heck, ALL of this is essentially just one long run-on sentence consisting of my own convoluted 'logic' -trying in vain to come to some sense of understanding of myself and the world around me through a bunch of pretentious, pseudo-intellectual half-truths and random nonsense..... ..... In any event, I applaud you on creating such a tremendous and thought-provoking (careful what you wish for...hehehe...*blinks*) piece of work! You gave me the chance to walk a path I was not even aware that I needed to! The simplicity of your style masks something far more complex and unquestionably interesting! I for one, feel honoured to have been given this chance I have a feeling there is much more, as yet...untapped potential lurking within the confines of your twisted and ingenius mind....(don't get a fat-head now...*prepares giant "popping device"............also known as a "pin"........ )
I love the earthy/muddy...slightly surreal colour choices you have made...there is a real sense of atmosphere and imagination...very nice
I shall leave now......... ->everybody:
