Description Birthday art for a friend.

Man, I don't think I've drawn anything Disney in...a really long time. Middle school maybe?

Well it's certainly a lot easier to draw existing characters now that I know a bit about drawing for animation. But just looking at the art for Sleeping Beauty made me realize how amazing the Disney artists really were. Every line is so perfect and deliberately placed.

But yes, Briar Rose, aka Sleeping Beauty. I much prefer this dress to the pink (technically blue) one that she has.

omw! blade! this is awesome!! I love how it is unmistakably Aurora but it still has your own flair!
I actually JUST went to the Disney exhibit at the New Orleans museum of art (went the last day before it closed lol!) and the art from sleeping beauty has to be the best! there was a whole room filled with huge paintings and watercolors that were used as the background! it was incredible!!
ps. original concept sketches of Maleficent...she looks JUST like Voldemort!

Thank you so much! ^_^
It's funny how hard it is for me to draw existing characters in their respective styles, so I'm glad it worked.

And ooh Disney! I LOVE Sleeping Beauty's art, it's just so iconic and perfect, and the details and colors are so rich. And lol Maleficent. XD

Great job! I agree, I totally prefer this dress to her princess dress. Not sure why, but the colors just work for her.

And agreed, its easier to draw existing characters now that we have some animation class under our belts.

It's true. And the pink one is just ugh. I like the subdued colors in the actual movie, not the ridiculous overly-saturated ones in all the promotional merchandise.

AGREED! The subtued colors usually look much better than the promotional colors. I think this can also be said for the poses used on these girls. They look much better in the movie (actually DOING something) rather than on the promotional stuff where all they do is stand around or sit stupidly.
