Description [Huge file; download for full detail.]

This started as an on-the-side doodle in my Digital Media class at school. In the last ten minutes of class each day, or if I had a free day, I would pull it up an work on it a but to sort of wind down for the end of the day.

Ever since I saw the gorgonopsid episode of Primeval, I have been intrigued by the off build of these Permian creatures, which are seemingly part reptile and part mammal. I espeically love the odd shaoe of the skull and jaw, resembling a hammer. Though I did use a few skeletal references for this painting, I did not do any in-depth research on them, so total accuracy is not to be expected. For one, I ought to have covered this guy in fur.

Anyhow, I added a simple seaside background and skyline once I had completed the animal itself, and though this is hardly action-packed, I'm quite pleased with it. It's my hope that this is the first in many full digital paintings.

This looks quite nice. I like the style of the drawing and therapsids of course.

See [link] for more; they earned that name for having more specialized teeth, more upright posture, and perhaps warm blood or hairlike covering. They're quite cool.
