The Striaton Gym Leaders are the Shadow Triad.Yes I very much believe in that theory! （￣へ￣）
While I do want the triplets to be good guys, I also like to think that they're really those awesome ninjas. 8D
Or maybe the Shadow Triad are actually the evil twins of the Striaton Leaders.
Which makes them sextuplets.

Oh yeah I drew the evolutions of their respective Pokemon so that they'll appear more badass Also I added masks since they sort of look silly without them (especially Simisear)
I don't own the brushes used in the backgrounds. (I'll add them here if I could find the source)

Oh, btw, I saw an article once on here, where there was some kinda interview showing their concept art, they had hair kinda reminiscient of the Striaton Trio: one with hair over his eye like Cress, one with really kinda wild hair like Chili (though long), and one with spikes going back somewhat like Cilan. So, I'm going with the theory that it might have been planned for them to be the Triad at one point, but the idea was scrapped.

This isn't true, In the new White 2, I connected it with my Pkmn White Version, and it allowed me to talk to a bunch of characters and see some flash backs. I talked to Cilan, and it flashed back. It was only shortly after the events with N, and they where talking about how many people don't think much of them as Gym leaders, and how they couldn't make it to N's castle in time to help. While they're talking, the Shadow triad appears before them and challenges them to battle, I dunno why, BUT I SAW THEM STAND IN FRONT OF CILAN CHILI AND CRESS! The game is only just out recently, and it might take some time before somebody else will soon prove everybody who thinks 'The gym leader trio are the shadow triad' wrong, with pictures and everything. But for now, this is the only thing I can tell you.

Yes. That's why the creators went to the extra trouble of creating the extra area for the scene, created new music, and spent hours, maybe days planning and eventually building the entire scene, JUST so they could lie to us. I mean Gheteis lied. He lied about wanting to help N make his dream reality. But you didn't see a flash back. He just told you in person. So you're telling me after writing a paragraph on why they're not the Shadow Triad, that I'm wrong? Seriously. Come on. I mean the Flashback wasn't shown to tell me they're weren't the Shadow Triad, they showed me to tell me why they resigned as Gym Leaders. Because in the new game, unless you've played it, you would know they resigned and just resigned the gym as a restaurant. AND. If you've played the game, would get to battle them. AND I DID. Neither of them had any of those Monkeys, Lillipups, or the Evolved forms of them. As I said in the first note, sooner or later other people will prove this too. With pictures too, and if they don't, so help me I will restart the game, play as far as that part, take a picture and prove your theory wrong. Just. You. Wait.

I have seen that scene. And the Triad is acting horribly OOC.
Why would they try to stop the Striaton Gym Leaders if they're as weak as Cilan claims they are?
Side-Note, Cilan says that the Triad would have been arrested if they were there, but given his claim that he and his brothers are inexperienced/weak Gym Leaders, why would they make any difference?
Also, the Triad were acting of their own accord, which is also OOC. Every move they make is because of Ghetsis's orders, so why would they act OF THEIR OWN ACCORD to defeat the Striaton Brothers?
Also, there's an easy explanation for the reason why they have different Pokemon: they put their main Team in the PC and withdraw the Pokemon you fight when you battle the Shadow Triad. When they return to the Gym, they deposit those Pokemon and take out their main team.
Finally, I WASN'T JUST TALKING ABOUT THE GAME.
I was including the Manga and Anime as well.
THE MANGA AND GAMES ARE SEPARATE.
So even if you're right about the Game, you might not be right about the Manga and Anime.

OK. Now I'm Arguing.
The Shadow Triad where for some reason beating all the gym leaders, even though Team Plasma had been defeated, as they said before they left they where going to challenge other gym leaders. Gheteis had disappeared, so there wasn't any proof that he might have let them go, but now that we've played the second game, we know he didn't. A person can be weak, like Cilan said, but weakness can't stop them from doing something, sometimes the Pen is mightier then the Sword. So just leaving them and dealing with others only would be stupid. Honestly. You need all eight badges to challenge the league. and Cilan IS weak, but we still battle him to get him out of the way, don't we? Now, as I said Gheteis was gone, so we didn't know what he was doing and can't prove he ordered them to do that. Maybe they did do that on their own Accord. I really don't care for your explanation on their pokemon, I have an easy counterattack. The monkey Pokemon are their signature Pokemon, if the creators really wanted to give us the hint, they would have kept that. And finally for your last paragraph, on the Manga and Anime. Seriously. TEAM PLASMA AREN'T EVEN IN THE ANIME! AND THE MAIN CHARACTERS TRAVEL WITH CILAN! As for the Manga, who cares? It's poorly drawn and sucks. Either way, there is no hints in the Manga. None at all. So really, all of your counterattacks where weak and unprepared. You didn't come up with something I couldn't beat. I don't see how you can counterattack now, so therefore, you lose.

I think that they were originally going for this plot twist, going off the early concept art of Black 2/White 2, but thought it was too predictable of a twist, and changed it.
My in-game points still stand, as do yours, so let's just end this with me saying that, according to the Many Worlds Theory, there's an infinite amount of universes where I'm right. There's also an infinite number where you're right.
So we're both right in some form or another.
And who aid there were no hints in the Manga? There are quite a few, but not my point.
Let's just stop fighting now; it's a fun fan theory, but we shouldn't go out of our way to prove or disprove it like we've been dong.

You started this. 3/4 of the comments up here, believe it's true, but I don't start an argument with them because I think differently. So, I responded to try and show you my point, and even at the end I said I didn't and wasn't arguing. But you continued the argument and then even taunted me at the end. Which annoyed me. So don't tell me not to be harsh. You directly said to me, "Beat that, insect" So why would I NOT react harshly?! You need to realize who's at fault here. There are even hints in the Anime, in that Cilan acted completely Bipolar at the discovery that Skyla did something called "Air Battles." It was completely OOC for Cilan, and was kind of creepy.
Also, there has to be a good reason why Burgundy hates him so much.... Maybe Cilan "liberated" one of Burgundy's Pokemon?
