Description

In 2016 I came up with four different concepts of a character aging through the four seasons. The first illustration would start off with Spring showing the characters purity and gentleness. To showcase this, I looked into flowers, their meaning and when they can bloom. Roses, Hydrangeas and Hibiscus range in blooming as to when they're planted but do bloom in Spring. The choice for blue hydrangeas was to breakup the pink colouration up.

Pink roses symbolise gratitude, admiration, gentleness, grace and joy.
Blue Hydrangeas symbolise apology, gratitude and understanding.
Pink Hibiscus symbolises love (friendship & partnership), beauty, and a perfect woman.

Flower meanings will vary depending on different sources, however this is the general consensus I gathered from different floral websites.
Four years later and I was looking through old unfinished art pieces to inspire me to creating new content when I came across Spring Doe's sketch. This then end up with me working on this piece for months on end trying out different brushes, shading techniques, colour scheme and edits to get the right outcome.
