an art trade with i attempted a diffrent shadeing style, yay or nay?i admit it will be a loonng time before i stop useing brushes in the bg XD

Wow Blank, this is amazing. 
Let's start with the background. Even though you've used a brush, the trees look great and layered. You've done a good job utilizing different colors to make it more realistic! The way you mixed the greens from the light source to the dark as the overall background color doesn't seem odd at all, when in most cases it does. Now the leaves. WOW! These are terrific even for a brush!
Ah, the log and rock. x3 The log, is beautiful. You used a great texture that drew attention to the oldness of it, the creases in the wood. It's great, very long, and straight. The shading is done beautifully, not too dark and not too light. The rock, however small it may be, is great too. Such a simple shape complimented with extensive and detailed shading makes it all the better.
Pfff, now my dear Holly (my fav charrie). The anatomy is beautiful, and you can certainly tell it's a cat! That's what most artist have trouble from (including myself), making it look like a certain species. Great coloring, and AMAZING EYES! I have yet to create a solid eye style, and this is great.
The only thing that kind of threw me was the tuft of fur on her left cheek. I understand she may have had fur cover her eye, but it just seems a bit awkward. You could have made it a little puffy, and then just a smooth finish.
Whatever it may be, you always amaze me Blank.

Oh, it's nothing. :3 I always feel happy when someone takes the time to notice the detail in my picture.
It sometimes makes drawing worthwhile, you know? Like someone understands the trouble you put into making it...
I get really pissed off when nobody comments on my picture D|
