I drew this piece for the Sports Illustration contest hosted by Celsys, the creator of Clip Studio Paint.
I'm honestly pleased and excited about this piece. I don't even care as to whether or not I even rank. There is a shirt story behind this piece.

What had happened is that I was on the fence as to whether or not I even wanted to enter. When I started this piece, I had 2 1/2 hours before the deadline. I managed to get EVERYTHING done in those 2 1/2 hours and that meant the world to me.

One of my goals as an artist is to become quicker and to enjoy drawing each piece and making sure that I feel satisfied with them. I'm overly excited about this because I felt that I did JUST that.
.
Normally when I draw it takes me just about close to 7 hours just to sketch out a piece, depending on how much detail I plan to put into it. I have never drawn anything like this before. Not the pose, clothing, the details, background, not even the coloring. I'm glad that I feel more of an inner peace when it comes to drawing. Before I hadn't felt that way.

Before I was a VERY lazy artist and I would take A LOT of shortcuts and rush just to literally, "throw" a piece out there. I would even have "artist anxiety". But, fortunately, I'm passed that now.

Being a "lazy artist" put me back a few years and I wasn't able to grow. Now, I have more genuine confidence and excitement to keep me going and I don't plan on losing it anytime soon.

This contest gave me something to be excited and proud of. I'm hoping that this will motivate and encourage me to keep pushing as an artist. And I hope that I'll continue to create more pieces like this one!
