Your art is just way too good oh my
I adore the way you do backgrounds (everything looks so detailed even though they are quick brushstrokes)- do you have any tips on them?

Thank you soo much <3

-To cheat a bit use a large canvas size, that way it looks detailed when you see the deviantart thumbnail or shrink your art, while when you 100& zoom in it's just a mess XD And it's way easier to do some smaller details, like the sand in my case (I personally use 3000x3000, but i've also seen 2500x1500, ect? Just find a size that suits you ^^)
-Look for some Photos or Landscape art for inspiration, not only do they look nice but they give you some inspiration so you don't always use the same background style ^^ Even if it is the same location, there are many ways to draw a forest for example
-Sketch the background together with the character, make everything feel like it belongs together
-Find a brush which fits the texture that you want or make one yourself (for example, I used a different brush for the clouds, sand and the ship)
-first get the colors down, the more contrast the better (if you do it on one layer like I always do, start with the things that's the furthest away and work yourself to the foreground)
-Never be scared to add more colors, while you shouldn't use all ranbow colors more than 2 main colors can't really hurt for the most part ^^
-The real thing people usually forget that the further something is away, the less detailed it is and the less saturated and lighter it gets
-If you have character who stands on grass or anything, put a bit grass over their feet/paws or add something else that overlaps with them, it really makes a difference and doesn't seem like 'you pasted this character on this picture'
For some backgrounds it doesn't work but if theres a way to add something, you should at least try it

Those are the things I do to get backgrounds done, maybe some of it works for you too? If that's what you wanted? XD Sorry if it's a bit long, but yeah that's how I learned. Just do it a few times and you'll get the hang of it ^^ It's just lots of practicing to be honest
