Did he get more kills by sneaking up and stabbing people or by running screaming at them? Either way, long live Beevil!

A bit of both? Mostly screaming at them.
Here's hoping he can make it XD

Goblins would naturally be attuned to the rogue class due to their +2 dex and the nimble escapist feat gets them in and out of combat for the big stabbing damage.
But I'm tickled fancy to see how a Goblin beserker would play out. His AC would probably be starting out high if you get the stats balanced right.

Their immediate thought was berzerker, but I was thinking of homebrewing something that is more conducive to dual wielding, like some kinda whirling dervish.

I found a homebrew barbarian subclass called Path of the Cyclone that sounds pretty hilarious, its in the Create-A-Path Barbarian book on DMs Guild.

I tend to find Rogue/Assassin is more fun with goblins. People expect them to flip out, they don't expect them to come out of nowhere.
And if he ever goes solo from the party, I got a buddy he could team up with:

Damn, not let me edit
Rouge, i mean, barbarian is thematic, but is not that only barbarian can be rage killing machines, and the style look better for Rogue.
